Never been here before and it was a friends birthday who suggested some drinks here. We went with no booking and got to the gate to be told there were no tables. Fair play, as we’re about to leave 2 gents left so a table of 3 was available. We asked if another chair could be pulled from another table as we were a group of 4 and you would think I’d asked the man to forge the chair of metal by hand himself.
So then we get served by a young girl who tells us even though the cocktail offer of 2 for £14 is meant to end at 7pm it’s still going through the till so we can still do it. This was maybe 8:45-9pm. We were still undecided and she said she was coming back to serve us. We did ask for the table to be wiped and something to put under one of the table legs as the table was wobbling and didn’t fancy £9 cocktails ending up on the tables instead of down our throats. We never got the table cleaned and she never came back to the table to take our order. Instead a man came over and we said we wanted to do the 2 for £14 offer. He was instantly like “no, it’s after 7pm” so we said well a young girl just told us it’s still going through the till? He then grabbed one of the menus in front of us turned it over tapping his finger where it says 2 for £14 until 7pm and repeated himself again that it’s after 7pm. So again all of us confused about what we want to order we just took his bad attitude and ordered 1 drink each. The drinks came and they were really nice, the girl who brought the drinks placed the tray of drinks on the wobbly table and the table tipped and some of the cocktails ended up in the tray which she apologised. So again we asked for something to sort the table leg out.
Another girl then came to take the next order of drinks and I just wanted to clarify the 2 for £14 offer asking if they are still able to be ordered and she was really polite and said no sadly it’s after 7pm. We explained a lad with a bad attitude had been rude to us when we had asked to order them under the offer when we had been told we could order them when we first got there. She apologised and said “yes that will be Sam!” Seems the staff even know who the member of staff with the attitude problem is.
By this point the table had tipped another time and a bottle of beer had spilled on my friends dress which we asked for some napkins and again something to put under the table leg which we never got... we finished this round of drinks and decided that was our night at Eighteen90 finished.
I work as a manager in customer service and I understand it’s not what everyone loves or ideals to do and some customers can be really hard work. Working in this sector I deliberately go out of my way to not be a nightmare customer, polite and acknowledge staff for a good job. However, in this climate be happy you have a job unlike many others, smile and give some good service on behalf of the company...
Read morePoor service, poor food. Whilst we didn't eat, we were in a party of over 20, and tried some of the food. It was to a poor standard and we're glad we didn't order.
They wouldn't honour their Thursday offer which is why we ended up without food. The lady behind the bar explicitly told us we could order drinks first but still benefit from the 'meal & drink for £10' offer.
For the five of us in our specific family group, it should of therefore been £50 in total.
As per the ladies advice, I ordered and paid £20 for 5 drinks, under the impression that we could then order food once others arrived and pay the £30 difference to include food.
Less than 10 minutes later, the rest of our group arrived and so we went back to the bar to order. This is when the lady refused to honour the deal she had originally said would be fine.
She couldn't grasp that adding £30 to £20 and getting 5 meals and 5 drinks was the same as paying £50 and getting the same amount of food / drinks.
We were not asking for anything extra, nor were we asking for a reduction in cost. We simply wanted them to honour the deal they had told us they would. Had she said no originally, we would not have ordered the drinks and would have simply waited the additional 10 minutes for everybody else to arrive.
This same thing also happened to somebody else in our group who also subsequently went...
Read moreIt's one of the more fancy places in Morely, with restrictions on the types of shoes you're allowed and very visible security. The drinks are good (good quality mixers but not necessarily freshly juiced) and the food is good too. Can't fault the food.
Heres some areas they could improve on: The staff are all very young and some are still learning. They take quite a while to check in on you to see if you want another drink. I've left there twice fed up of waiting for a waitress to notice me ir come bear my table. They tend to warm up to you but treat you like a stranger initially instead of treating you like a customer.
The tables are small for the food you get and it's not a very comfortable experience eating there. Sometimes you'll see a pile of cushions by the kitchen door and not know if you're allowed to take them. The staff don't notice that.
They make you pay before they serve you. That might not bother you, but from my perspective; if you're not letting me in with trainers and you don't trust me not to do a runner; what are you trying to tell me? It's a bad message to...
