Grumpys undoubtedly make lovely pizzas however perhaps I was just unlucky with the level of service I received on my recent visit.
Firstly I asked what beers were on draught and I ordered a pint of Virtuous. The waitress then returned and said actually it wasn't on but there were a couple of alternatives. I said I'd like to try a bit first to which she replied that would be fine...perhaps misunderstanding me, she then brought me a whole pint but I decided not to say anything, even when the head was about 2 inches.
As we began to peruse the festive menu, we were told that a couple of key ingredients weren't available, which seemed odd for a Sunday afternoon.
We ordered our pizzas and I asked for red onions in place of the fig.. (one of the unavailable ingredients)
My pizza arrived shortly after but my friend was asked what he ordered again and then was told his would be another five minutes .
I asked for some parmesan to sprinkle on my pizza, as I've become accostumed to doing in most pizza restaurants...i was brought shavings of parmesan and told I'd have to be charged for a dip as they don't usually serve parmesan.
On their own, these seem like small annoyances but it's only when paired with a seemingly unapologetic and misguided service that they add up to an unfortunate experience.
The pizza was nice but that was about it...
Thanks for the response. I've changed my star rating which, upon reflection was probably a bit reactionary. I do think that how we treat customers is important and small gestures - (e.g. Have free parmesan!) can make a big difference to making a customer...
Read moreI don't often give 1 star reviews but I was extremely disappointed with this restaurant. You have to order via an app rather than someone taking your order. It was eat out to help out, so it was really busy when we arrived at 7:45pm, which we were mindful of and we were willing to be patient. We made our order on the app, and it had been about 40 mins and our drinks still hadn't arrived, so we had to go in an ask about them and they brought them out. No one came round to our table to check how we were, and what was concerning was that customers around us who arrived later were getting their drinks and food before us. After about 1.5 hours of waiting, we had to go in again and ask where our food was. They said some excuse about the order going to the bar and not the kitchen, and then brought my pizza out with a topping missing, at which point I was too tired and hungry to go in again and complain. At the end they came out with a bit of an 'oopsy daisy' apology saying because the orders were web based, they had a power cut and our order got missed off. Food coming in late, or them making a mistake is not the end of the world, but the customer service was extremely poor. I would have considered giving them the benefit of the doubt that this was a one off mistake, but reading these reviews, the owners seem to get defensive rather than try and fix any of the issues raised, so we will not be...
Read moreThis place is OK. The pizzas are nice and filling. They cater for all dietary needs and have cocktails, beers and very much trying to be a trendy pizza bar. Service staff were friendly enough, and always checked on how we are. The only issue I had was, we spent a bit of money on wine, beers and food, to be told, can you pay up, the next party is here. Just to be clear, we went with the flow and speed of the service, we didn't eat slow or hog the table. we just went with the flow of service. You'd thought we were there on the same table for 3hrs, we literally just finished our food, and was about to ask for bill anyway. I felt if there was an eat and go policy, they should have made that clear. Communication is everything in service. Would I go again, probably.. but I'm not excited by it. There's better pizza places, such as Il-fornos in Horsforth. Smaller venue but never...
