The East Village — Restaurant in Leeds

Sub-urban Leeds drinking just stepped up!

Fantastic cocktail bar in the heart of studentville, Hyde Park, Leeds. Friendly and extremely knowledgeable staff. My Girlfriend and myself both work in the drinks industry so we like to pretend that we know what we are talking about! For me this is the best cocktail bar in Leeds, a nice step outside the city, serious drinkers will enjoy the fantastic drinks menu. Whilst other can just enjoy a casual beer.

Nowadays drinkers seem to be much more savvy with what they are drinking, and East Village has the feel that it has been moulded around this philosophy.

I'm a big bar fan of independent bars and one of the best things about living in Leeds is the independent bar scene. Hyde Park is blessed with a few hidden gems but my favourite is The East Village. Really friendly staff that always smile and have a laugh with you no matter how busy it is and they make killer drinks with the menu designed by the owner, I think his name is Oliver. It's open and cozy at the same time with a big New York style bar with seats and other small booth with old school games dotted about. The least professional "cocktail" bar I have ever been to. Their excuse for a pina colada is a single shot of Malibu and Lilt from Sainsbury's. Their other "cocktails" all tasted as if they'd had zero alcohol in them and I'm pretty certain I genuinely witnessed the guy behind the bar watering down a bottle of spirits. They also didn't seem to have a dishwasher for the glasses and were cleaning them all by hand, which didn't seem very thorough. Staff were friendly but did take their time attending...
