Visited last Sunday. Booked in advance. Arrived on time and there was 5 free tables along with two that needed clearing. Was told we had to wait and that a table would be ready when a couple had paid the bill. Stood waiting over 15 minutes which isn't the best when pre booked, pregnant and free tables... The starter was chicken tikka and fish cakes both really nice. Main was the Gammon sunday lunch which wasn't the best. Yorkshire pudding and roasts were good. Mash tasted more smash and the veg selection was poor didn't seem very fresh (Just peas and carrots). Partner had the burger which he said was really nice. Never got asked if we wanted another drink so ended up having to go to the bar and ask. Been before and had better service. Coffee machine isn't in the best place at all especially when it's in reach of children and not much room around it to pass. Sauces and cutlery are also stored near it which just looked cluttered and messy.

Sunday lunch was very tasty. Good value for money and freshly home cooked food. Generous quantity of meat and vegetables, two large Yorkshire puddings. 2 or 3 course option. Gravy was already poured over the food, perhaps a gravy pot would have been better or be offered. Good choice of starters and desserts and specials board option too, as well as their regular menu. Vegetarian option also. Staff very attentive to customer needs, good service and polite. Booking is a must, as very busy, not likely to get a table on walk ins. Meals served til late. Carparking available. Toilets need a makeover asap, cold and damp- Shame as the rest of the pub is lovely.

We would like to say a huge "Thank you," to all the staff at the Railway Inn for making our parents' 60th wedding anniversary lunch a wonderful experience. The waiter service was fantastic and the food was of excellent quality. Everyone who attended had nothing but praise for the chef, the kitchen staff and front of house staff. Again, thank you very much for helping make such a wonderful memory for Ken and Ruth and their family.

Very disappointed after hearing good things about the Railway. All started great with good communication from the waitress, regarding allergy advice, however it was downhill from then on. 2 out of the 7 main meals had to be sent back, one was flat cold and the other was a steak that was ordered to be cooked "well done" but came very close to "medium rare". This was sent back and then returned 15 mins later (after everyone else had finished their meal) so "well done" it was almost impossible to cut it, The other meal was a peppered steak dish which came flat cold, this was sent back and returned, but it was clear it was only re-heated via the microwave.

When we mentioned to the waitress how disappointed we were, the reply wasn't at all sympothtic, it was just a quick apology at its best, no offer of any discount or even a free coffee to compensate the loss of our enjoyment.

When we got our bill and proceeded to make the payment we were expecting some kind of goodwill gesture, i.e a bit of a discount to compensate us, but nothing was offered, it was us who stated that we weren't happy to pay for the steak, the response we had did take me by surprise, when he said...well if that's the case it's not worth arguing with us!! I question on what basis would he be able argue, considering that pretty much the whole meal was ruined. We won't be returning to the...

Partner had the Roast dinner which she said was great but I personally had the Chicken & Rib combo the chicken was not tasty when I stuck my fork in water came out. Then the ribs well less said about the Ribs the better they were just pure fat on the 3, I received. The chef must of thought it was a good idea to over cook them so they could taste better and because that failed just put a ton of sauce on them to disguise the rubber taste.

On asking to see the chef the young girl not her fault just said he’s unavailable and it’s what the supplier sends right so that’s not my problem.

When complained at the bar same response it must be a common thing with the standard reaction so thanks Eileen you’re customer Service if not low previously is in the gutter now.

Simple lesson if you’re supplier is not performing don’t serve the food and get a new one just like you would if you was dealing with anything in life.

If the chef can’t be bothered dealing with customer complaints then what’s he doing besides making poor quality food.

Seriously not normally one to complain or write a review but this was totally...

The lamb pudding I had was great (recommended, I have had this previously before) however my partner had a Sunday roast and the roast potatoes etc tasted rewarmed (the same as last time we came) and for that price more is expected I'm sorry. We came later on the day but this is no excuse.

The reason for the low stars is because the service was poor. We had to ask if we could order drinks and food because it took that long and people just kept on walking past us as if we were invisible. We never got asked if the food was okay and we never got asked if we even wanted a desert (even though me and my partner wanted one). In the end we sat there for half an hour finishing our drinks with our finished plates still at our table and decided to just forget it and ask for the bill. We saw other tables doing the same tbh so it wasn't just us.

Lots of young staff so we didn't take it personally especially if they are still learning but the blame goes to whoever is running the place.

Shame but for the money I think better there are better Sunday roasts etc available...
