This is a honest review based on our own experience we read some of the reviews and listened to recommendations from friends and decided to book a table for last Thursday evening the dining area was packed we had a small table in between two other larger tables the menu is small for me not enough choice not even any specials board I can understand it at this time of year because they was running two menus festive and normal my wife had the salmon the choice of potato was puzzling mashed potato or chips! Would have thought new potatoes would be a good option the chips smelt funny of old cooking oil quite tasteless the vegetables side was a joke a small ramekin with no more than a tablespoon of frozen peas and probably a quarter of a carrot sliced up to make the dish look full no cauliflower or broccoli disappointed to say the least mine was large beer battered haddock the same smelly chips and a dollop of mushy peas I cut into my haddock the batter uncooked on the inside and very greasy I made a comment to the waiting staff no problem we will change it three minutes later out comes another one exactly the same as previously needless to say I didn’t accept told we can refund which I accept but we came for a meal the owner asked if I’d like another dish but I’d be eating on my own wouldn’t I ! The spotted cow team work very hard but on this occasion fell way short our food very disappointed ☹️ you won’t get...

Family party of 6 booked for Sunday lunch here yesterday. Parking free in their car park Very welcoming and we were seated quickly, drinks / food orders taken promptly by very friendly waitress .Our beloved little dog was made welcome and sat patiently in the dog friendly area . Atmosphere was good and music at a tolerable level. What can I say about the food ? We eat out regularly and are disappointed with some pubs we visit. But this place …… Quality, home cooked and absolutely delicious.! Starters , mains and desserts thoroughly enjoyed by all of us . The portions are large and most definitely worth the already reasonable price. Our party had …. Garlic mushrooms, Tempura prawns , Soup, Chicken Gougons, Sunday roast , Gammon and eggs , Salmon , Lamb chops , Big Burger Chocolate Brownie, Sticky Toffee pudding and I had the Cheesecake ( which was the best cheesecake I have ever had !!) We were recommended this pub for good food and boy did they deliver. Already planning our...

Fan dabi dozi as wee Jimmy used to say. Good job we booked by phone (which was answered quickly) as the pub was full. Good food at a good price (someone should use that as a strap line, they probably do, anyway I digress). We had a large gammon, fish burger, beef burger and a small fish and chips for the wee girl (thought I'd carry on the Scottish theme even though I'm not). All were very good or should I say very braw. Mains done, but some of us couldn't resist a pudding. The young lasses shared a chocolate Brownie with ice cream which they liked. I had (what I suspect is their signature sweet) baileys cheese cake which I enjoyed with a little help from our lass.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, thank you.

In conclusion, to quote that well known ex Austrian governor of California...

We called here on Friday after passing it for about ô years!!!! Never been in well I had the Guinness steak ale pie the wife had chicken burger To say the pie was perfect in taste presentation wouldn't do it justice it was simply divine and huge very generously fill with meat which was cooked to perfection again the chicken burger was very generous portions extremely tasty how we missed this place I will never know to further the experience we had a lovely service from Lottie so if you want food which is beautifully presented and cooked and served with a smile go to the spotted cow we certainly will

Another mystery Sunday lunch location that did not disappoint. The weather was warm, so we sat out for drinks in the ample outdoor seating area. (Not ideal for young families though), and ate most of our meal inside. The menu is excellently simple, but hey, they have ploughman's lunch to die for, and seriously, when was the last time you saw one of those on a menu? The meals were well presented, ola the chef, and his cheesecake was so light, a culinary crescendo... we will be returning. And thanks to the staff for being so pleasant in a world of TV promoted selfishness...
