I had the best pizza I've ever had. Now, to preface this, I've never been to Italy. I have, however, had a lot of pizza from places boasting their credentials and basing their entire brand on authenticity. I have also been to Vesuvius a lot since moving nearby and it has never been less than great.
Service is friendly and welcoming, people come and are social with one another, the music makes you think of some knowingly chic film and the decor is charming.
I had the meatballs with some delicious bread, a juicy and flavourful orange juice (which is sweet to the point you get a suggestion of honey) and the best pizza I have ever had. The crust was aerated, the base was crisp and just slightly risen and there was a fearsome cheese pull without the cheese being searing hot or stringy. I started with the Arancino which was really enjoyable.
I then had the Verace pizza. It was really good from the first taste to the last. The one thing that would elevate it further would be to use prosciutto rather than the wafer thin stuff. It was still really very good.
I finished with a bowl of ice cream.
