Lovely little cafe tucked away in Lewes. VERY friendly staff and drinks were delicious with a wide range of syrups. The vanilla matcha was really lovely and the coffee blend was also great- both kept us nice and toasty on our walk around Lewes. There’s a decent selection of pastries and a very cosy vibe inside, although we only had drinks for takeaway. Will hopefully be back another time to sit down and try some pastries. Prices were also very reasonable

Service deserves a 6 star. Really great find, stumbled across it without reading any reviews but it was busy inside. Cake selection was great (we ordered rose cake, banana cake). Coffees were roasted in house which was exciting (can be purchased about £9/£10 for 250gm bag, whole bean or grounded if requested). Had a single unisex toilet. About £15 for 2 cake slices and 2 coffees. Offered a selection of savoury sandwiches too, bread looked amazing.

First time visiting yesterday and will definately be coming back! Super friendly team, amazing choices of drinks, food and cakes! The coffee itself is one of the best i've tried, super smooth and bold flavour, not bitter! I also had matcha and chai! The milk was steamed to perfection, super silky smooth and nice and hot!

Poor hygiene

I have been here only two times and on both occasions the drinks have been okay. However there was one glaring issue: poor hygiene. On the first occasion, I had sat at a table near which there were puddles of liquid on the floor. I pointed this out to the waitress but her response was dismissive saying it doesn't matter. This I let slide as I thought it must just be water on the floor and they'll wipe it up later.

On the second occasion, it was much worse. I was sitting at a table with my food and drink when a lady with a dog came in and seated herself at a table near the window. After a while, the dog defecated on the floor which the lady did her best to clean up with some tissues, however there was some 'remnants' left on the floor. The staff reseated her at another table but they did not bother to clean up under the first table and I could see the 'remains' still under the table. The same girl who had on the previous occasion dismissed my concerns about the puddles just wiped the table and then tucked the chairs ready for whichever customer would be unfortunate enough to be seated there next. I was there a while and saw no one retrieving any mops to clean the local floor area up properly.

This second occasion was utterly disgusting and I certainly would not want to be seated at a place where a dog has just defecated. Hygiene is extremely important, especially where food is concerned and not something I'm willing to compromise on. It really baffles me why the staff would do this in full view of customers. I'm sharing this as I feel other potential customers have a...

Love discovering new places in my home town: Carafe Coffee Roasters in Lewes ā˜• I've just had the best coffee in the last few months: a perfectly brewed and prepared coffee in the style I love it: CafĆ© allongĆ©, the French version of the coffee: longer than the Italian espresso, shorter than the Americano, still strong and aromatic. (It is actually espresso that has been pulled a bit longer than a regular espresso.) I'll have to ask next time about the provenience of the coffee beans as I'm not that fussy with my coffee as I'm with my wines, but it definitely add the right kick and taste to my day. Oh.... and the almond croissant, so damn delicious and crispy! And the service.... so knowledgeable and welcoming! Love...

My fiancƩ and I visited this coffee shop whilst on a visit to Lewes in around 2018 - we got a light snack with a frappe (one of the best frappes we've ever had) We visited a year later and the owner remembered us from the time before - we thought it was so lovely. We visit once or twice a year, as we aren't locals to the town, but always receive a warm welcome and a quick brief chat. The coffees are great, we even bought coffee beans from there. Their snacks are also really good. I would highly recommend visiting if...
