Went for one to wet the whistle before a hike up Mount Caburn, Harvey’s is excellently served as well as a range of other ales and lager beers. A lovely spot to stand outside and take in the sights and sounds of Lewes whilst having a drink

Our last ( or first) stop from Lewes station into the town. A CAMRA Good Beer Guide corner pub. A one room pub that spills out onto the street. Had another Harvey's Sussex Best Bitter. Four real ales and a real cider.

Perfect spot for a pre-match pint! The atmosphere was excellent and really enjoyed being able to be outside. Was also delighted to find that they served gluten-free beer from Gun Brewery which was a nice surprise.

Because this pub is near the town centre, the railway station, a good non-league football ground, and colleges, there is always a mixed crowd in and outside the friendly Lansdown. This is a quality local pub completely without pretensions, and offers a reasonable choice of beer and snacks to all comers. There is a brief wine list too. The small interior is particularly characterful, and is worth exploring. The Lansdown's management has supported many community initiatives in the past, and no doubt will continue to do so. Update: spring 2022 has seen new wooden seating outside, and a limited return to modest but excellently presented music events (including a monthly 'jam night') inside. For food beyond bar snacks, one is always welcome to bring in purchases from Caccia and Tails next door. Update: even on warm evenings after a football game at nearby Premier League club Brighton, or one of the well-supported teams at the town's own Lewes Community Football Club, one still gets served in a reasonable time.

As of late 2024, some of the internal partition walls, installed to help reduce infections during the pandemic, have been removed. This has freed up a larger space for musicians to play, or for dogs to lie down to be bothered...

Lewes is a wonder perched in the folds of the South Downs and is replete with character that oozes through its pubs. You're spoilt for choice pubwise but I can't say the same for food shops and the now ubiquitous in the UK coffee emporiums, which are curiously lacking . This corner pub near the railway station is a great stopping point on your way in or out of town, with an indoor tree, cosy décour, decent bar range and what looks like busy schedule of entertainment. The view on to the Downs from the benches outside alone makes dropping...

A classic watering hole nearby the station so ideal if you’re coming to or from the station.

There’s a quite a few chairs and tables outside for when the weather is nice. The cask selection was good and a pint of Harvey’s Best was £4.60 as you’d hope locally.

It was a bit hectic in there being a Saturday, but it was lively and friendly. More of a passing through pub than a destination, but worth a...
