Along with 100% of customers present when I visited I was the wrong side of 75 years old. At our age many have hearing problems, finding difficulty conversing with partners when the background noise is too much in the foreground. I saw and just about overheard a lady ask if it could be turned down, and the waiter told them, I gathered, that it was their policy to provide it to all, and that there were speakers all over the eating area. The noise did not vary in volume or style the 20 minutes I was there, which was very tiresome. At 10.30 am most working-age people are probably at work. Casual observation of the Lewes demographic would show that a high proportion of the population is of retirement age, and would like silence, or at least less intrusive music suited to their age-group. I am not necessarily referring to Victor Sylvester and his Palm Court, just something more suited to the clientele than the youngsters...

I've eaten twice now at this delightful eatery. From the moment I walked in with my Cocker Spaniel puppy we were greated with such enthusiasm and warmth. My pup Rocky was treated straight away with a vegan sausage which he wolfed down like tearing into a Christmas present. I had the smashed avo on toast which I couldn't finish so they kindly boxed up the rest for me to enjoy later. My second visit was with a friend and Rocky. Well once again the greeting was the same but even more so because we were recognised from previously. We ordered the BLT which was generously packed with bacon and of course Rocky got his sausage. I want to commend the Staff, Louise, Danny, Brandon and Mia. You truly are an advocate for this eatery. There needs to be more people like you guys in this Industry. See you...

2 of us stopped to have lunch. We both had a poke bowl, one teriyaki chicken, the other pork belly. I can't have a couple of the items in the poke bowl and this was not a problem to take out and replace with another veg I can have, which is hard to come across nowadays as everywhere seems to be 'predone'.

Both of us were very impressed with the flavours and it was a very generous amount!

My partner had a side of chips also and said they were delicious!

We both had flat whites (one oat milk and one coconut), both very good, best coffee out in a while!

Host was very helpful, cheerful and accommodating.

Would definitely return, there were lots of dishes that came out that looked...

Five stars for everything. Looks very inviting but as we had our dog with us we didn't think we could go in but the big sign saying dogs welcome changed our minds. We ordered, including a sausage roll for the dog. We were pointed to dog biscuits available by the door. Food arrived and it was delicious. Dog's sausage roll arrived all cut up in a dog bowl. Should get an extra star for that!! Lovely atmosphere. A wide selection of food including lots of cakes 😋 The staff were very engaging and happy including some singing along to songs on the radio. If in Lewes, a must for your visit and your tummy ⭐

We were instantly made to fell welcome and that nothing was too much of a bother for them. The owner/staff were very friendly and accommodating. I love the decor, very relaxing fresh and clean. The food is freshly cooked and absolutely delicious. We came back a 2nd day for breakfast but arrived abit before opening but the owner saw us and invited us in to sit and wait with a cup of tea Amazon service. If we come back to Lewes again we will definitely be back to try more on their menu. Highly recommend this place if you get a chance.

I pooped into The Sip for breakfast before catching my train back to London. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. It seems to have quite a few regulars as the staff were catching up with their lives in between serving. I had the Eggs Benedict and a cup of tea. It cost £14.90 (March 2025) and was very good and worth the money. The base was a slice of sourdough bread which was piled high with ham hock and two perfectly poached eggs and a drizzle of hollandaise sauce. A great way to start the day.
