Lewes has always cried out for a decent wine bar and over the years many have come and gone. Symposium sprung up from the ashes of Lewes Spice back in 2011 and has gone from strength to strength. Rob and Henry and the team are always on hand to advise and as well as a great selection of bottles there is always a good choice of red, white, rose and fizz by the glass. The bread and olives and the mixed food platters complement the wine nicely and regular tasting events are held. Craft beers from Burning Sky and Gun Breweries as well as local gins also feature. I live up the road from Symposium and it is a great wine merchant & drinking establishment. They have a great selection of wines from lesser known producers. The quality is always good, right from their £7 bottles up to the £25 bottles that i have bought - my budget doesn't go above that.

A great, small local businesss that really knows it's grapes. Licensed for off-sales as well. But if you have to time, take a table in the window with a glass of wine and watch the world pass by. Food is restricted to various platters (Meat, vegetarian available) but are great to share. And their chocolate brownies are a special treat. Don't overlook their great selection of spirits and some of the best local "Craft beer"...
