Padella D'oro Restaurant — Restaurant in Lewes

Had a fantastic meal out with friends last night at Padella D'oro Italian Restaurant. We did book ahead - best to do that to avoid disappointment.

One of my friends had Penne Filetto and the other Pollo Biancaneve with sauted potatoes, green beans and carrots, from the standard Menu. I had Pan Fried Dover Sole, Chips with Salad which was from the board.

How they managed to make my Dover Sole taste as wonderful as it did, I do not know. I think it had some sort of covering before it was pan-fried. I asked for the recipe but the waitress laughed and unfortunately I did not get the recipe. My chips were great. And the salad was so fresh and tasted gorgeous - you can measure a good salad by the taste of the tomatoes and they were excellent and sweet.

Both of my friends eat here regularly and finished off their dins with gusto. One of my friends had a glass of Rose and we had soft drinks.

Waitress (who I believe is the daughter of the owner) was wonderful and the restaurant was chock-a-block. The only reason I've downmarked from 5 star, is the ambience is slightly wrong - can't put my finger on it - I think it needs a little make-over, however, it certainly didn't detract from our enjoyment and...

Ordered takeaway food to be delivered at 5pm and was told 40 minutes. Rang back at 6pm and was told food would leave in 5 minutes , rang again at 6.30pm and was told it left 10 minutes ago. At 6.55pm driver rang and said he couldn't find my address which isn't anywhere out the way and on a main road. Rang back the restaurant at 7pm and was told by a rather arrogant lady who told me she was the chef that she would refund me after I told the driver I didn't want cold food. She then rang me back and asked if I still wanted the food .. I told her no I didn't and she said fine and put tge phone down on me. The most arrogant and unprofessional takeaway service I've ever encountered since moving to the area...

What a treasure! I can't believe I have lived in the area so long and not discovered Padella D'oro! The menu was extensive and very adaptable to my need for gluten-free food. The food was so delicious and reasonably priced and the lovely young lady who served us was so friendly and engaging. The atmosphere and music in the little restaurant had a really Mediterranean feel. An altogether enjoyable evening! Thankyou! Just had another delicious gluten free, dairy free meal at Padella d'Oro!
