This has to rate as one of the worst coffee shops I have had the misfortune to visit.
A fair trek from the city centre, Google maps says a 15 minute walk from the bus station. Once past Springbok Computers, a very rough area of the High Street. At least it was a pleasant warm sunny afternoon.
Tiny inside. Pleasant decor. That was as good as it got.
I was about to sit by the window, a man who walked in behind me, went and sat there.
I ordered a cappuccino.
I was brought a cappuccino, mixed with chocolate. I took it back. An argument then ensued. The surly girl who served it claimed a cappuccino is served with chocolate. Not correct. She knew because she had been to barista training school. She then refused to change it. I could if I wished, pay for a flat white. Which I refused.
I took a tiny sip. The taste was vile. Not even the chocolate could mask how bad the coffee was. I was then left with this vile taste in my mouth, until I got back into the city centre, to get domething, anything, to get rid of the vile taste.
The coffee, 200 Degrees, poor quality Arabica bulked out with Robusta.
The price for the cappuccino was ÂŁ3-60. A rip-off.
People often complain they are being ripped off. High price for cheap coffee, then yes being ripped off. To pay a high price, for quality beans, a skilled barista, then not being ripped off.
To put the price in context, a cappuccino at Coffee Aroma is ÂŁ3-70. The difference, quality beans from a reputable roastery, skilled baristas, expensive equipment. Skilled baristas who would never insult a customer with chocolate on a cappuccino.
A bistro it is not.
Application in the window for outside seating. This application should not be granted. Public footpath occupied next to a busy main road. Walking back to the city centre, I did not see anywhere with outside seating beside the busy main road.
I wonder how long it will be before M&M take action for use of their...
Read moreWhat an amazing little bistro/cafe đ When you walk in, it is warm and cosy, and you are met with a smile from the friendly staff who are always so welcoming. The coffee is fantastic and saves me a trip to town to get my 200° fix! Cakes are yummy and the best fresh sausage rolls you will get in Lincoln đ This bistro is decorated lovely with warm lighting comfy chairs and lots of great plants (some of which you can buy!) It is such a great addition to this end of the high street and 100% worth a visit. The only problem with M&Ms is that you will feel so relaxed and at home that a quick coffee visit might turn into a lot longer than you...
Read moreThis is mine and my partner's go-to café. We live in the area and we make a point to try out any new cafés that open as we're big coffee fans.
Since the first time we came here, we loved it - the owners are as friendly as they come and they always go above and beyond with their service.
The coffee is always perfect - never overextracted and you can pick out flavour notes incredibly easily. The same goes for the food, be it cake or otherwise.
Prices are incredibly fair, especially compared to other similar cafés in the city.
