Came here for New Years Eve and was confused from the start. We phoned up in advance and asked for a table of 6.
When we got there we sat down, got our drinks and they immediately started bringing us food. We were all confused as we hadn't ordered anything. They explained that it was a set menu. Not once did they tell us it was a set menu when we booked it over the phone, otherwise we probably wouldn't have gone there.
One of the waiters was incredibly rude to one of the girls in our party. She is a vegetarian and asked about something on the menu. He rudely interrupted her saying "wait!". She just wanted clarity on the dish that he was about to serve her before interrupting her again saying "wait! Just wait!!". We all looked at each to say 'did he really just do that?'
The food was ok, and we all ate most of what was served. But when the waiter came to clear our plates, he stood at the end of the table and asked us all to pass us our plates to him! I must say in the hundreds of restaurants I have visited, I have never had to pass my own dirty plate to a waiter.
Not once did any of the waiters ask us if we wanted more drinks, or did they check to see if everything was ok. Often we had to call their attention as our glasses ran dry.
There was a small altercation with 2 of the waiters as they brought our mains over. One of them was about to set a dish down before the other waiter stopped him before they exchanged some heated words in Greek.
There was a clear language barrier when either ordering drinks, or even booking the table. Often having to repeat ourselves 4 or 5 times when asking a for a drink before giving up and getting his colleague.
The food is ok, very simplistic with it just being a tray of meat and chips.
Overall, my experience with this restaurant is that it's a glorified takeaway. If you want a kebab at premium prices, to be spoken to rudely,...
Read moreAt 7pm on the 26th of May 2022 my son, who lives locally, and I visited Grilla, we have both been to the establishment before. We where told as we sat down that they had no liquor licence at that time as they had some problem! We both ordered chicken and 2 Cokes, the Coke was flat but compensated by a slice of lemon! I sat facing the kitchen where I observed during the duration of our stay staff removing or repairing a tall lardar fridge. Within 30 minutes of leaving the restaurant my son and I experienced SEVERE symptoms of food poisoning. When we rang to inform the restaurant the manager was unhelpful and said that "we must have had a bug" we had not seen each other for weeks. We told the manager about observing the fridge and she insisted that all the raw meat was kept at the right temperature. We insisted on a refund and refused the offer of free food, why would we risk being poisoned again?? When we returned to process the refund onto a credit card the manager was unapologetic and refused to take any responsibility on behalf of the business. She refunded the food but not the flat two Cokes. Arrived at 4:30 with my child for a celebration dinner, we were the only people in the restaurant, ordered straight away and joked don't need the menu as I know what we're ordering. Asked the lad to bring everything together. About 20mins later Another couple entered got drinks straight away and there's and our starter came out. We sat for about another 20mins empty plates while the young lad kept walking past us and the Uber eats and deliveroo got all there orders then sat and watched as the people coming after us had been served both starts and mains while our waiter just kept walking past us and more Uber eats were walking out with food. The rude young waiter who kept muttering under his breath and given attitude before I finally asked to just pay for our starters so we could leave and go elsewhere, the owner was really polite and offered to get our food over right away but after an hour of sitting waiting We were to hungry to keep waiting, plus the rude young waiter kept making comments. Such a shame because it was always a lovely restaurant but seems they care more about deliveries over real people...
