Food 3 stars Service 3 stars Value for money 3 stars Location 4 stars.
Parking can be an issue as it’s located right on the busy road so plan accordingly. There’s free parking after 7pm. And location is outside Ulez and congestion charge area so that is good
Service initially was world class guy called Ammar got us table after around 10/ minutes wait and that is the time we were told as soon as we got in so he fulfilled his promise and time was accurate so didn’t mind.
He (Ammar) suggested an order which was Bihari boti as starter and nihari lamb with kulcha nans. Bihari boti 4 stars as it wasn’t spicy at all. I guess they should ask for variations of it that how would someone like it medium spicy or hot ( suggest) and I guess it’s universally catered for all kids and adults alike. Meat however was beautifully cooked and tender. Texture of meat was melting in your mouth. It was light yet fulfilling. Good starter overall. Sauces and salad was provided however neither were great. I think simple tweaks on both can make them better. Quantity of salad and spicing up sauces in a sense that they are distinct flavour meaning bit more minty as mint sauce should be with garlic essence and chili sauce should be chili not yogurty chili. Salad can be seen In Picture it’s hardly anything there. Fresh big onions and tomatoes were both part of top hence had that stem room in both so we didn’t eat neither
Now the star of restaurant Lamb nihari It was absolutely amazing garnishing provided with it makes it legend. Kulcha nans (piping hot) were a perfect match made in heaven. I would recommend and go back only for those two things It was best nihari I had from a restaurant in uk. Well done We ordered garlic Nan and a roti to test if they are as good quality as kulcha nans however waiter forgot ( they were mega busy but that is not good service in fact very pathetic as we kept waiting and they never arrived until our nihari had gone cold) and upon making a fuss other waiter brought us two normal nans which I would not recommend as they were raw undercooked from the middle part so ruined the mood and food. We are the nihari with spoon before it went too cold to eat. After that we ordered desserts upon recommendation from waiter again They were borderline terrible Pre made industrial sub standard average food. I would not recommend desserts at all Matka kulfi reminded me of shakar cola from Pakistan meaning full of synthetic screen and artificial flavour no actual malai or saffron as claimed Kheer was absolutely tasteless it reminded me of rice pudding that my kids use to it from a jar of baby food. My 12 year old can make better kheer. Honestly what a waste of money. To brighten the mood after nan saga and deserts disappointment I ordered gulab jaman Honestly I hate when food is thrown away half eaten or otherwise but I was tempted to do just that with them. There were only two for price of £2.75. Warmed up In microwave and best description I can give you is that they were as hard and tasteless as you would buy them from your corner shop in plastic tubs that have been sat there for weeks and now reduced to clear. So please avoid these desserts. I would not know what others were like. Didn’t dare to ask. Overall place is tidy but their toilet is for emergency use only as they were filthy smelly as they come. Place was very busy especially takeaway phone orders they were constantly getting pick up from customers and naturally those orders are more profitable hence given priority
As we waited to be seated and served it took 45 minutes which is long bloody wait. In the meantime there was constant takeaway orders packed neatly in plastic bags were handed out to many customers. Owner has wall of photos with celebrities goes to show how well known and famous they are however I know a certain restaurant called TKC in Southall who was same 15 years ago and look where they are. Please concentrate on service and food. Rest will take...
Read moreI want to go on record and say i have been a customer of Aladins since conception. I personally know Tanwir the owner. Humble guy, his business ran really well for years, reasonable prices, quality on point and HIS management was good. Ever since Aladins moved a few times in W Hendon, the prices start going up and service downhill.
I will speak to reason why i was compelled to leave a negative as i wouldnt want to do that to Tanwir. I ordered two mixed grills off Just Eat yesterday, as most will know prices on JE are higher. What i was sent is burnt meat. Yes bbq meat does have some black parts but not to the extent you cant eat it without trimming bits off.
The mixed grill comes with chicken tikka and lamb tikka, they sent miserly sizes. The chicken pieces in a few cases were two finger nail length big in some cases and the same with the lamb. I called up to complain, staff member said our portions have always been the same, not listening to my point. I spoke to the manager, a mr mohammed at the resteraunt and i got much of the same attitude. Instead of apologising and rectifying the situation. He argued that these are set portions. Justifying how many pieces were sent, as though i should be happy he sent 4 pieces when they usually sent 2.
His attitude from the beginning stank. I am sure its the same white beard guy the other customer complained about. At the end of a 5-7min argument he asked me what i wanted and said if its chicken you wanted i would give it. Completely missed the point that the food was burnt, small portion sizes and that he should have apologised from the start and given tthe replacement without asking and not acting like hes ggiving me charity. I answered, i wanted an apology at the replacement food should have been obvious. So he asked again like hes doing me a favour, "so if its chicken you want, shall i give you chicken" i said no. I declined to make a statement that i dont want his charity nor his attitude. The pic of the mixed grill tray doesnt do justice to how small the pieces were. You can even see the kebab that wasnt full size. I wish i could zoom in and get the right light to show burnt food and true sizes of things. Chicken tikka and lamb tikka pieces should be like chicken/lamb shish cubes not pieces cut up. My extended family have complained of how bad your restaurant has become also, sometimes hardly and meat in biryani, burnt grilled food. This isnt the aladins i knew and loved.
If Tanwir is reading, i am sorry for the bad review but honestly uncle, your success was a combination of Allahs blessing, you keeping your prices reasonable and quality sstandards high. As the restaurant got bigger your standards and service went down. I pray you remember what made you a success from the small shop you had near the mosque. InshaAllah i hope you see this as naseeha and not just criticism. As a tajir you have to answer to god for how you earnt...
Read moreI have passed this place many times in the past but never considering it to be more than a takeaway. However a friend treated us there to 'Nihari' ( lamb shanks immersed in thick gravy, served with bits of lemon, coriander, shredded ginger and green chillies) I was not aware that it was the last day of Eat out -Help out. There was a long queue of people waiting outside the restaurant. We stood there for long but were not informed by the staff member holding a clip board, occasionally reading out names and allowing groups in.(We assumed perhaps it was due to prior booking but realized after a long wait that he should have taken down our name too to send us forward according to the seating arrangement. The interior of the place is maintained at low, dim light but isn't much appealing the eye. The interior decor is that of a dusky inn with a cluttered shelf with multiple items on one side and a few wall hangings. One stood out remarkably with a verse on a mirrored sheet with glass paint - a Quranic verse. Gave some colour to the setting. The ceiling light did match the theme 'Aladdin's. The wait for food was average 40-45 minutes as told by a gentleman serving the table/ taking orders. The staff was jovial and smiling with each other but not the customers. I did see 'smile' or warmth but only a matter-of-fact tone; taking order, serving etc. Was quite good of any warm gesture. This however was ample in the attitude of the gentleman behind the counter, taking payment. He did exhibit warmth and smile- some courtesy! Nihari was very good indeed- well cooked and the gravy was thick with some cautious amount of salt. However, the other accompanying elements especially the lemons did accentuate the flavour. It was really tasty and had handsome amount of serving, almost soul satisfying. Compliments to the Chef..The chicken Reshmi Kebabs didn't have the sharp, inviting scent to them when arrived on the table. The taste was average too. The spring rolls were slightly dry but edible. Overall the experience hasn't t been exhilarating. If you are up for a healthy, satisfying portion of Nihari, do pop in. The general atmosphere is OK. The fish aquarium is one of the nice features as the fish seem to be well taken care...
