Alounak — Restaurant in London

i have been a loyal customer to Alounak since they had a cabin next to railway station in Kensington, they use to serve food in a caravan! i always enjoyed their food and their consistency in providing a good service but sadly i went there two nights ago and i was very much disappointed! The management of the floor was in such a disarray which almost got us leaving, my family and I were not the only ones, i spoke to the other customers such as us waiting outside in the queue; they were also very annoyed of the way that they been treated. This was not the first time that i stayed outside in the queue but simple mismanagement was so obvious. After we got a table we ordered the food and some starters. The starters came in with some fresh bread and half way through eating bread we realised that a piece of chewing-gum stock to the bread which made us almost sick to our stomach, later on we also realised that one of the forks were some food stuck to it! This means due to the fact that they are rushing to bring people in they do not even check the basics!! It took them almost 30min well after we finished the starters to bring the main food, one would think if there are many people waiting to come in and be seated you would do your best to serve as soon as possible for better efficiency and customer service but sadly that was not the objective that evening. They replaced the bread and fork and then food came in. The food which i knew for at least past 20 plus years was not there any more. The kebab was well done! the taste of the kebab and the starters were not the same as they use to be. I only felt sad that a restaurant that i always told people is one of the best Persian restaurant has lost its purpose of serving good service and good food! I can tell you that it has definitely has dropped off my list of restaurant. Mistakes happen but after all we gone through with my family including two kids, no one came to apologise at the end for all the bad service and not such a good food, they also charged us for the service charge!!! I think they have made massive mistake to lose that good service and good food in order to have some extra financial gains. They have lost me as a loyal customer for...

Food was delicious - their bread is made fresh to order and their portions are huge. I would give the food 4/5 but had to dock a star due to the customer service. The servers that I interacted with were all very quiet which was fine, but one of them seemed to require a bit more training and just seemed annoyed the entire time. Mid meal, she came to our table and started rearranging the condiments (perhaps to start prepping for the next day), but would reach over my friend and I while we were eating. In the process, she knocked over the olive oil leaving a puddle of oil on our table. She did not return to wipe it up, so I did.

At the end of my meal I requested to take away the remaining food on my plate which had about 2/3 remaining. Rice, one roasted tomato (which I left specifically to take away), some salad and 1 skewer of koobideh. I returned home and was disappointed to find that only some rice and the koobideh was included but no tomato. I regret not doing it myself. Plus the takeaway box was flipped so the rice had poured out.

She was also very quick to clear our table without asking whether we wanted to take our bread (and just stacked it with our used plates and cutlery). I felt that a bit more communication would have been nice here. She could have asked whether we wanted to take away the bread as there was clearly a lot left.

Anyway, I thought the customer service from this server was really lacking which is why I couldn't give the restaurant a higher mark.
