The glowing reviews for this place have to be a joke, right?! For breakfast, I ordered a halal sausage and egg muffin, and it was so poorly executed I was laughing at the absurdity! The muffin featured a single, lonely sausage that looked more like a pale imitation rather than something actually cooked ā as if it had merely brushed past a hot pan on its way to my plate. The egg was a pale, rubbery specimen, a sad reminder of a battery hen discharge with every flabby bite.
Calling this place 'artisan' is a bit like calling a fast-food drive-thru 'Michelin-starred'. 'Artisan' should suggest quality and care, but here it seems to mean throwing together whateverās at hand and hoping for the best! To make matters worse, there was no seasoning or dressing with the muffin ā just a plain, dry, tasteless bun. I even had to add salt to the whole combo, something I've never had to do before.
To top it off, my request for tap water was forgotten. The server was pleasant enough, bless them, the whole experience was just embarrassing. I didnāt ask for my money back because I was completely stunned by the ineptitude ā and for Ā£7, well, maybe they need it!
Edit.* Response from the owner24 minutes ago We are very sorry not to have lived up to your expectations. Your feedback is taken on board. Thank you. Wishing you all the very best in finding your 5 star halal sausage and egg muffin !
To be honest, expecting a 5-star experience wasn't my goal ā just a decent meal and service. Your tone here says a lot about the approach to customer feedback, and it feels dismissive rather than constructive. My comments were legitimate criticisms about the quality and presentation, and the response here seems to reflect the overall experience I had: more focused on deflecting than improving. Itās a shame, as Iād hoped for a more...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOne of the best places to eat in the neighbourhood. (Iām local and Iāve been to many)
This place surprised me, looks plasticky but the food is fresh, well-cooked & delicious, great coffee, huge menu, the loveliest staff (all of them), so much care goes into a lot of what they do. Reasonable price too.
A couple of small tables outside, about 30-40 seats inside.
We came in for brunch on Saturday.
āļø Americano (Ā£3) They use āRaveā coffee beans. (Deep roast, notes are caramel, almond, chocolate) I had a choice to have this either strong or medium, I had mine medium and it was spot on.
šµ Matcha latte (Ā£5) On the menu there was also matcha tea straight and blue matcha.
š½ļø ā¢Shakshuka (Ā£12) X2 eggs on top of ratatouille-ish base with feta on top. (Not swimming in tomato juice which I have seen in many places.)
ā¢Seasonal mix salad (Ā£4) Simple and fresh. Shakshuka is rich so salad was a good call.
ā¢AƧai bowl (Ā£10) Freshly made and comes with their homemade granola. I was torn between a couple of options and they kindly offered to just give me lots of different bits. Mine had mango, strawberry, chia seeds and it was nice.
Other interesting things they had on the menu: ā¢Duck hot dog ā¢Piri piri chicken, salad and fries ā¢Egg roll (with crispy onions) ā¢Seafood pasta ā¢Juices with lions mane, ashwaganda
Shaz(?) was so kind. Accommodated our requests, checking ingredients and adjusting to our needs.
šŖ“ Many real, happy plants - It may not be the most relevant aspect of eating experience but when a place has lots of real thriving plants, it shows that people there care and look after things and I appreciate this. Especially since Iām a bit of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUnfortunately, this place was the worst brunch weāve ever had in Notting Hill (and possibly anywhere elseā¦). Firstly, my dish came out 20 minutes later than my partnerās because they āneeded to pre-heat the ovenā, which was disappointing as we then ate our breakfasts at separate times. My partner ordered the Full English, which was incredibly disappointing. It was of a lower quality than the Ā£5 Full English breakfast at a Wetherspoons, but three times the price. The hash brown was under baked, the toast was cold and tasted like cheap bread, and everything else lacked flavour. I ordered the shakshuka which also tasted quite bland, but most importantly the eggs were partially raw. When we pointed this out to the waiter, the chef walked past and looked at it and agreed, but seemed more amused than concerned that he had served uncooked eggs to a customer. The waiter said he would remove the shakshuka from the bill given the uncooked eggs, but then came over with a card machine and an amount pre-entered without providing a printed bill with the breakdown, which he said he was unable to do for some reason. When we asked for a breakdown (as the amount seemed a bit off), we realised that we were actually being overcharged by 30%. Possibly just an innocent error, but, nonetheless, we are locals to the area and have tried most of the breakfast places nearby over the years, and can confidently say this has been our...
