I called to book a table and they were polite enough, when I arrived we didn't get much of a greeting but that's ok we sat down anyway. After a few minutes of deliberating, our drink order was taken. My boyfriend ordered a latte and I ordered an orange juice. Our drinks came and it turns out that they don't know the difference between a latte and a cappuccino, disappointing, but that's not really too much to fuss about. What I was annoyed about is that when the waitress came to take our food order she didn't seem to care or listen to what we want. We ordered 5 dumplings, she read the order back to us and said "9 dumplings" I then clearly corrected her but unsurprisingly 9 dumplings were served to us and we had to pay for what we didn't eat or want to eat.
Also I don't eat mashed potatoes so I asked the waitress if they had any other side dish substitute. Such as just boiled potatoes or something, she looked at me blankly and said no. She was unwilling to help and then finally offered just to take the mash off. So I ended up with an exciting meal of just chicken breast and cabbage, great.
I'm English and so is my boyfriend but I've been to a few polish restaurants and this was terrible compared to the others. It's not the food, the food was O-K, it's just the level of customer service. I didn't know I had to be polish to be listened to. Also found it funny that the polish people didn't have to make a reservation, they just came in and sat down.
I would return if they could train their staff in better customer service and general friendliness. We're in London so London manners must apply. Nothing wrong with asking the chef if he can substitute something! Cappuccinos and Lattes are NOT the same and 5 dumplings...
Read moreOn my 7th day of severe food poisoning after eating here! Please don't do this to yourself!!! I came here with my Polish friend who fancied Polish food for Easter. I wish I could say it was tasty and worth the after effects - but the food was extremely poor quality even if it was well-presented. The filling in the pierogi in the borscht was like the texture of sawdust, the goulash had some chunks of mystery meat that were so overcooked they were dryer than unhydrated soya chunks. And the special of some kind of patty with mash was one massive lump instead of three small patties as it should be and had lots of bits of unpleasant cartilage. I was struggling to eat most of it, and gave up at some point but I wish I hadn't eaten any of it. Service was fine, not bad, not amazing. It really wasn't worth walking ages to get cash out for - as others have said it is cash only. This my first time trying Polish food - I want to believe it is better than this, certainly the concept of dishes was very interesting but just felt very badly made. Even my friend was a tad embarrassed as he wanted to show me good Polish food he was sentimental for growing up during...
Read moreWe visited Autograf for the first time 2 years ago and we were amazed how good the food was and how the place made us feel like we are at grandma house. We went there today and we had the same experience. We were welcomed by the owner and seated at the table. Place is very clean and has a nice decor with some polish music playing in the background. Food was tasty, portions were very big. We had two mains, two drinks and some sides. I also bought some dumplings for take away for the next day lunch. Everything came up to 54£ which I think for London and prices those days is cheap considering the fact we were very full, too full to order some desserts but hopefully next time we will be able to eat them. If You haven’t visited Autograf yet or didn’t try polish food yet, consider going there for authentic polish food and nice atmosphere. We had a nice chat with the owners. We will be back for...
