AVRA Authentic Greek Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in London

Maybe the best moussaka, I have ever had, and being Greek I had a lot of this complicated favourite dish; it was fresh, light and amasingly tasty. It was also very generous, better to share with someone and top up with something else from the menu, i.e a portion of pork souvlaki, which was equally tasty and tender and juicy and impeccable (+homemade mummy chips). It seems that everything in this unpretentious restaurant is fresh and made on the spot, from the (tyrokafteri-tzatziki) pastes to the desserts. I cant wait to visit again. I will travel from Wandsworth to Cheam, knowing that I will eat top flavours without breaking the bank. Definitely a kleftiko lamb next...

Starters of hummus and stuffed vine leaves was v nice and they were accompanied by a delicious fluffy warm flat bread. I had a double espresso that was strong, slightly bitter and was exactly what I wanted. The chocolate milkshake was v thick, could have been a bit more chocolatey for my tastes, but still v nice. My kid had a lamb souvlaki and enjoyed it, I had a vegetarian one, but it was a bit bland for me, it needed falafels, or feta, or something tasty. Our first visit to Dora's kitchen. Staff are polite and welcoming and there were plenty of places to sit. (On Father's Day) The menu choice was excellent and food arrived promptly. The moussaka was lovely and flavoursome but sadly the pastitsio was quite bland and not a lot of meat inside.
