This place is excellent! Only a tiny little restaurant that has opened up for a few months but serving really great Vietnamese food - better than anything you can get on Kingsland road in London, I promise! I go here almost every weekend. The owners are very nice and the lady who is the main chef used to cater for parties, and they have now opened up this restaurant. Ok the food: best things you have to eat are: Banh Cuon (nothing in London like it, if you have been to Vietnam, this is pretty close to the real deal. Summer roll (they make this nice and fresh, good balance of mint, lettuce, prawn, pork, beansprouts. If you don't have an allergy ask them to serve the sauce with peanuts...very nice combo of hoisin type sauce(maybe it is hoisin?), chilli and peanuts!) Spring rolls are good for those who might not like the fresh mint flavours Bun thit nuong - grilled pork and noodles. Bun with something sliced grilled pork patty (cant't remember the name) The rice with pork chop Specials - the family used to run a stall making this amaaazing beef broth noodle with carrot, potatoes and soft stewed beef...fantastic, umami, it's got it all! They don't do it all the time so when you see it, order one and try. Bubble tea...really nice version. And they also bring you unlimited tea as well, which is quite light to drink. I really wanted to be selfish and not share this review but tbh they deserve it and I reckon will be very busy once they get more known to the serious foodies. It's probably also a nice restaurant or place to go to for those tourists staying local at the St Giles Hotel down the road as there isn't a huge variety of unique restaurants like...
Read moreOn the menu for weekend 10/11th Feb 2018: Hu Time Nam Vang - tapioca noodles in pork broth, with succulent prawns, char sui pork, pork mince garnished with spring onions coriander and Chinese chive. Really excellent a wonderful break from my usual Pho
I espied Banh mi 108 about a month back walking out of the tesco opposite. It's hidden away in an an unpretentious corner with a lite lime facade and no fancy display. To be honest if you aren't looking for it toh won't know it. However something about the place is inviting and cozy, and I kind of made a mental nite to gi and explore asap. Having tried out some excellent Vietnamese meat rolls in Birmingham last year, I was looking forward to coming in and comparing. Needless to say rhe ace is exceptional. The sUmmer roles were fresh made, rolled up delicately aromatic greens, some pork and prawns. Delicioso . Follows with a steaming hot bowl if Pho, beef soup and noodles with more greens, chillies and beansprouts. The broth was light, and fresh made and delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed a great service. Will go...
Read moreHer ladyship went to visit family and suggested visiting here on the way home as we were both suffering from severe and acute "summer roll" deprivation.
One of our regular establishments when we lived down the road.
Dawn was greeted like long lost family, and when it was explained a take away was needed was only happy to help.
Summer rolls duly ordered and two of the days Noodles, pork and quail eggs Pho type bowls were also ordered.
Summer Rolls were exquisite as always, definitely the best we've ever had. And the Noodle bowls were just sublime. Delicious Noodles and broth and the pork and eggs were a delight.
I have no hesitation awarding this fine establishment it's Fourth Michelin Star.
That's makes it the only four star place on the planet!
Enjoy this place it's solid gold and the food is cooked by ladies who really know there stuff.
Love it...
