Friday, 10:30 in the morning, I came in that lovely cafe. My plan was to have a flat white and work for an hour before having lunch. I sat down at a comfy place by the window, enjoying the sunshine coming through. Unfortunately, I felt right in the beginning after ordering my coffee and opening my laptop that I was maybe not the type of customer the owner wanted to have in his place. He dropped the coffee at my table in an unfriendly way (no words, no look, no smile, nothing)... But ok, why not. After 35 minutes, he picked up my coffee, asked me if I would like anything else. I politely answered that I was good and thanked him. Then, a pastry supplier came in with fresh pastries and the owner started to cut some pieces of pastries and offer those to all his regular customers who were in the place at that moment. Very nice of him. Except the fact that he didn't offer me anything, neither even looked at me, passing by and acting like I was not there, like I was simply not a customer... 10 minutes after, his waitress came to my table asking me if I wanted to order something else; "not now, thank you", and she asked me to leave within 10 minutes to free the table... So I left (I'm still waiting for a simple "bye"). Therefore, I unfortunately didn't have the chance (and time) to have lunch at Beehive, most likely because I didn't order enough for the time I stayed in there, or maybe because I'm not the type of customer the owner wants to have in his place. I'm not the type of person who orders an espresso and stays 4 hours in a cafe, but if it happens, I always make sure my order is worth the time I spend in the place. I've never seen that kind of attitude in a cafe in London. I found it unfriendly and very disrespectful. I obviously don't recommend that place that doesn’t reflect the warm and friendly atmosphere you can feel all around Chiswick. PS: for the record, I didn't even use the internet connection of the place, I shared mine from...
Read moreBeehive has the best breakfast in Chiswick. The staff and owner are consistently efficient and hospitable. You'll note some bad reviews here, which particularly mention the staff asking people to order something or leave, one of which even accuses the owner of being racist. I was there on the day in question: a group took all the tables in front of the cafe, and ordered one takeaway coffee. I believe they were actually waiting in the queue for the cafe opposite. The owner quite reasonably asked them to order more, or make the tables available to other customers. They left (and the tables were immediately occupied by paying customers), but not before a diatribe from one customer, accusing the owner of racism, in a completely unjustified way.
You can't just take up tables at a tiny cafe and order almost nothing. That is rude and entitled. Like with all online reviews, readers have to filter for unjustified disgruntlement, and I assure those reading this is true for this case.
Beehive is an absolutely great place, on...

We recently visited Beehive Café in Chiswick and really enjoyed the cosy and welcoming atmosphere. The place felt very comfortable, and Omid, the manager, made our experience even better with his warm hospitality and professional yet friendly demeanour.
The meal we had was tasty and well-prepared, and we appreciated the quality of the service overall. However, we found the prices relatively high compared to our recent experiences at similar cafés in the area.
Overall, it’s a lovely spot with excellent management, but I believe it would be even better if they reviewed their pricing to reflect the local market...
