A pleasant surprise to find an Indian restaurant that actually serves authentic Indian & Bangladeshi food. I cook Bangladeshi food myself and so avoid going to these restaurants because my standards for good Indian food are very high. This is an exceptional restaurant I have discovered and will be visiting when I want homey food. Food quality and taste: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Ambience: 3/5 Overall I would still give it a 5/5 because the service was exceptional. I had forgotten to specify how hot I wanted my dish until the food was served. I mentioned it, and the owner asked me to try it, and if it was too hot, he'd re-cook my dish!! But thankfully, it (Chattoki Karahi with Chicken on the bone) wasn't that hot and it was delicious. PS. They are an alcohol-free restaurant and that means it is a quiet place you can sit and eat in peace!

Amazing flavours and service! My husband and I are sad we didn’t try this place sooner. We had the Naga masala and Raj-Shahi Kurma and both were absolutely delicious. We also tried the Sag Aloo and cheese and garlic naan which were lovely and fresh. I tried the mango lassi and was not disappointed. I’ve tried a lot of lassis and this one was truly the tastiest. The service is great with the waiter recommending dishes, teaching us about flavours and making sure we were completely satisfied and taken care of. Also the prices are affordable :) Highly recommend this place!

Quite possibly the worst indian food I've ever eaten. Butter chicken, so sweet it tastes like sugar and has the texture of dedicated coconut. I've never stopped eating an Indian curry before, this was a first. Not to mention saag paneer tasted just like the butter chicken but with a slight change of spinach and cheese as oppsed to chicken. Cheese naan, seems like plastic cheap cheese. Not impressed in the slightest. Also worth pointing out, heaps of "5 star" reviews from people with 1 or 2 reviews... nothing suss about that.

"‎ حلال Bengal Spice is one of the best Indian restaurants in London (Islington and Archway) , though we take pride in specializing in authentic Bangladeshi cuisine. While we offer all the classic curry house favorites, we also have a diverse selection of unique village-style dishes, including Shatkor, Borfi, Lebu Bengal, and Jera—each bursting with incredible citrus flavors and much more. Our staff is always polite, efficient, and eager to help customers explore new flavors beyond the usual choices. We love making recommendations to introduce you to something special. The owner personally ensures customer satisfaction, often inviting guests to sample their dish as soon as it arrives. If you’re not happy with it, we’ll happily adjust it at no extra cost within minutes. Vegetarians are especially well catered for, with nearly every dish available in a vegetable or paneer option. Whether you dine in or order a takeaway, we are passionate about serving authentic Indian and Bangladeshi food with exceptional service. At Bengal Spice, we take pride in our expertise in balancing and blending spices to create bold, delicious flavors. Enjoy the real taste of Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine, all with a bring-your-own-drink policy. We always welcome feedback to help us improve and continue providing the best dining...

WORSE RESTAURANT IN NORTH LONDON.!!!! Where do I start. I have never in my 37yrs experienced such insulting, disgusting and viciously aborant service. The owner, pushed my aunt as she politely tried to squeeze through their narrow walk way. He shushed and ignored. He spoke over us constantly. Every single person of our party of 25 people experienced something negative, upsetting or unnerving during there encounter with this individual. It is apparent to mention that the system currently inplace is outdated and not fit for purpose. Food took over 40 min to arrive. And then the owner proceeded to state "he is stressed". I'm not unreasonable I could see that they were overwhelmed with 2 arge party bookings plus takeaway orders as well as other eat in customers. However, this was so unacceptable. Imagine saying " excuse me can" and mid sentence, he cuts you off and puts his hand up in front of you. Honestly, I never loose my temper in public spaces but I completely lost it and raised my voice at him. I will never ever go back here and I'd never recommend anyone else attend!!!!!!! So furious...

We ordered for the first time for delivery this evening and it was average. Ordered one meat main, four vegetable sides, one bread and large rice for 40 pounds. We had high expectations because of the reviews and found that the food was mediocre and there were no standout dishes. Perhaps we didn’t order right or it might’ve been better eating in the restaurant. Overall we thought the food was disappointing and won’t order again.

In response to the owner- I’m a vegetarian, my boyfriend had the tikka masala and I rated the rest as average. The garlic naan was fine, I expected the sogginess but you don’t return based on the bread.

It is not true that tarka dal tastes the same everywhere, I’ve definitely had that better elsewhere and the bindhi bhaji. There should’ve been ONE standout dish in what we’ve ordered.

As a new customer I chose what I knew and would be more inclined to try new dishes if I had enjoyed it.

I was trying to give constructive feedback and the response sounds so patronising and defensive that I will...
