Benita Bakery & Cafe - Highbury — Restaurant in London

After standing outside at the bus stop and drooling over the pastry's in the window I finally caved and ventured inside, I was initially ignored by all 3 members of staff at the counter until one finally realise I was there and served me no smile no thank you no have a nice evening I on the other hand gave all 3, my mother always said meet rudeness with kindness. I went home with my spoils and my housemate and I scoffed 2 of the most delicious chocolate and custard tarts. I was ordered to get another 2 the next day on my way home and I did this time the same I was completely ignored at the counter again and quite frankly treated like I was an inconvenience. To be honest I don't care how nice your pastry's are the rudeness is not worth the calories. I don't know if it could be to do with the fact I'm 4ft 3 and look extremely young for my age so maybe they are assuming I am a school kid and feel they can ignore me because of this but I'm not and even if that was the case school kids don't deserve to be ignored either. Love love love. I actually stopped for the price. I walked from Angel down Upper street looking for a well priced normal cafe and finally found it! Everything was central London prices and didn’t feel it was worth £10 for a sandwich. So when I seen Benita Bakery had great quality selection and great price tea and coffee of course I had to choose here.

I ordered a mushroom and cheese toastie, chai latte with oat milk to sit in. And it came to just under £10 total!

They offered free water in the tap as seen in the pictures I uploaded, nicely much needed touch! We shouldn’t have to keep buying bottled water or ask for water. Lots of seating available.

I added in a notice they have in regards to laptop use which is totally fine by me. Saves the seats for everyone else.

Very friendly and attentive staff who brought my hot drink to my table.

Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture that my lovely food which chicken Santiago 😘. It’s reasonable price for very fresh delicious foods. Ingredients are exactly correct conditions and right amount. Portion not too low, not too high. Bread not too soft, not too dry/hard. Totally satisfied and totally filled my hunger. This is my 1st visit there, very good friendly staff. No rush, no push. Very clean and well arrange, fabulous. I had a idea to go KFC but once I saw Benita, changed my mind other than buying dry- chicken. Even subway have to pay more than for this kind of food but not filled the hunger their very soft bread. Thanks for the staff that I had chat today, very friendly. Take away package was with everything and very handy 😚. I’m waiting for my next visit because I’m living in New cross gate.
