Deeply disappointing. I phoned to find out about the menu only to find out most of the menu was frozen....jarred or of substances unknown and this was a conversation with the "chef" who tried so hard to get me off the phone. He told me he knew all about my gluten, told me of dishes that did not contain wheat. A chef would know that wheat is not the only cereal that contains gluten and most processed foods contain levels of gluten....He simply did not know what was in his food and continued to discribe opening bags of frozen foods and defrosting and/or frying it. Even too lazy to peel potatoes and make fresh chips.....hardly a "chef" with pride. When I enquired about the puddings....still not an option for those with an allergy but you can have fruit salad!! As a customer going to a fast food take out you expect to eat high processed food but at a small higher priced, al a cart, independent restaurant I expect as fresh as possible and some effort made in purchasing, preparing and cooking the food, seems Ramsay clearly has not influenced this "chef". When cocktail sauce comes from a jar because your too lazy to make a simple yet fresh tasty sauce....you can not expect to have a regular loyal custom. I admit I do love a prawn cocktail but when I saw the picture of chopped cheap iceberg lettuce and huge chucks of cucumber covering this plate and the previously frozen prawns and jarred cocktail sauce on top....I knew not eating at this restaurant was my best decision of the year. I have not had one person tell me of the fabulous food I missed, only of the highly processed, poor quality food they could hardly eat. A lot of the food was left on the plate due to it being dry, oily, tasteless etc and that to me is a clear sign of a poorly run kitchen by a lazy "chef". Only bright side to the evening was the waiting staff were, patient, accommodating and very polite and thanks to the booze the night was pleasent. My advise, eat before...
Read moreAll right , I am a bit picky when good is involved might be cause I am from France . However this place wasn't good . First the floor was really dirty then our table was full of candle wax the menu made you want to wash your hand after tuching it . Toilet seat was ok but smell and walls and floor were dirty the brunch on the side had toilet paper falling of it . Service was really poor noisy waiters/waitresses . We order white wine and they left the btl on the table we had to ask for an ask baquet and there were surprise we did . Didn't clean our empty glasses until we ask for . FOOD please do not to this to your body ! Make your own food or go to côté d azure which is absolutely brilliant , yes good takes time but because it s fresh made ! In here it was like going to Iceland with a past date food . Anyway Croydon is amazing but do not go to the boulevard if you want to have...
Read moreI can highly recommend this amazing restaurant. My partner and I went for dinner here last night as we have done a few times in the past, this restaurant is a hidden gem, the staff are always very friendly. The food is amazing, every time we go I try a different dish, the Brie fritters, prawns and halloumi are fantastic starters, the steak is our usual go to because it’s always cooked to perfection, they are more than happy to swap anything you want such as chips to mash or salad to veg, for the food you’re eating other restaurants and pubs will be charging more than this place and nowhere near the same quality. You never feel rushed between courses, the staff ask when you would like your main once you have finished your starter unlike other restaurants that try and hurry you along, the atmosphere is also lovely, we went quite early around 6pm and...
