Chat House Indian Restaurant — Restaurant in London

Just had our usual Saturday night takeaway from Chat house. We have been dining in this restaurant for many years and takeaways for as long as they offered delivery, and clearly no one would return time and time again if the food wasn’t great and the staff weren’t great too. Unfortunately things are not as they were. This evenings meal was dreadful, it was simple fare, just a Madras, a Pathia, and a Masala. All were swimming in fat/oil, horribly over salted, and lacked true flavour. The Onion bhaji’s were overcooked and the vegetable sides were no where near the usual standard for Chat House. On top of all this very poor food the delivery was 40 minutes past their emailed delivery slot. All in all a thoroughly disappointing experience, and this is now the second time in the last 6 weeks the food has been well below par for this place. Its the 4th time the delivery has arrived at least 40 minutes over the stated time and its been very difficult to get anyone to answer the phone!! Whats going on Guy’s????

Since posting this review I have eaten in the restaurant a few times and had numerous takeaways, and I’m very pleased to report that Chat House is back to its normal high quality, and 5 stars are the only rating possible. So...

We have been going here for over 10 years but when we went the other day I noticed that my Gourmet Society card said there was an offer on of buy 3 courses get another 3 courses free. However when I showed to the management, they initially denied that was for their restaurant, then when we I verified their address, said they they don't do that offer. Eventually they agreed but the portions were poor compared to our visit 3 weeks before. There was a huge delay in our food coming out meaning we didn't have time for dessert. Then when the bill came they over charged us massively. When I challenged it they took it down by £9, reluctant to let me take time to look at it. Then added a 10% service charge without choice even though there were only 2 of us. When we got home we added up what we had without the offer and the bill came in at £6 less. So we were very shocked by all this and won't be going there or continuing to recommend it to friends. My advice to them is that if they are not willing to have gourmet society members don't...

Ok so at first I panicked lol delivery drivers have messed up before from other places so when the just eat website said "delivered, enjoy food" I called the restaurant three times worried as I hadn't received it. But that was quickly put to ease when I left it and waited like the restaurant had told me to do and baam my doorbell went. It's not easy to find my address as I live ontop of a shop BUT they found me. I'm so happy to say my vindaloo was AMAZING omgggg yessss spicy is what I like and this was not only spicy but soooo tasty I probably could have called in for a phoul ...all my food arrived hot the tikka biryani was amazing. I had my old favourite shop that shut down, but I'm happy to now say I've found my new favorite place to order from. I've ordered so many Indian takeaways and this was just amazing. Also a BIG thank you to whoever I spoke to over the phone as not only did I call once or twice but three times and every time he was patient helpful and...
