Butterfly Cafe — Restaurant in London

Ok, I need to start by saying that I came here once before and left a stellar review because the food, service, atmosphere, everything was second to none. However, I returned today with a family member, excited to introduce them to this cafe and had a really disappointing experience. This time the food took absolutely ages to arrive even though the cafe was virtually empty. When 2 of the 3 dishes did arrive the order was wrong and had to go back. After another wait the correct order came and it was some time again before mine finally arrived. In the meantime, while waiting all we could hear from the kitchen was constant chatting and giggling between one of the chefs and the waitresses. He even came out at one point and was chatting away with the waitresses in the cafe. Our pancakes weren't as flavourful as they were on our first visit and mine were a bit under cooked. The manager lady wasn't there today so perhaps the chef was taking advantage of this (when the cats away..). All in all it was disappointing compared to our first visit when there were no waitresses, wonderful service from the manager and the food...

Decor is high class, unfortunately, so are some prices. £4 for a glass of orange juice from a carton! The bread and butter is awful (cheapest bread, tasteless cheap spread) and the coffee that you get with breakfast is terrible instant stuff. The food was really nice but on 2 occasions out of 2, they got my order wrong. They do have a fantastic coffee machine but you have to ask specifically and clearly for what you want. If you ask for a coffee, you'll get instant stuff but if you specify a type for example latte, you'll get one. I was hoping that we had got something special in the area (and I think it can be) but they have to adjust a few things. If you use cheap ingredients you cant charge upper level prices. Also, I think some of the staff might never have worked in a cafe before. They didn't take card payments for the first month but seem to have rectified that now. I would go back, but at the moment, there is better out...

This new cafe is brilliant! Firstly it is located near Orpington, sidcup, Swanley and covers London and Kent which I’m pleased about as it’s a diverse cafe serving Caribbean food aswell and American and English breakfasts and lunches ! Today I ordered via Deliveroo and order arrived in about an hour, first time buying the plaintain wrap and it was delicious with the flavourful jerk sauce and fresh peppers! Plaintain is very fresh and not at all greasy!! Honestly really nice food, even offer vegan Mac n cheese! The price is fair considering portion size is generous, sprinkle cake is delicious and moist! Everything is spot on and I would recommend ordering for sure. Reason for 4 star is because they do not have rice and peas or patties on the menu which is a shame but still amazing food and packaging. Thanks 👍 even provide fresh salad...
