I went to order a regular iced latte and 2 shots of caramel syrup which would have come to £5.65 according to their menu as the coffee costs £3.45 and the added shot was £1.10 each. They then asked me to pay £9.10! I was very confused and asked why it was so much as it is a lot more than what is advertised. I was met with hostility and they just thought it was normal that an iced latte would cost nearly as much as their main meals offered. The staff just were not understanding the math, and the lady who put the order in the till must have put in something wrong. After 5 minutes of hostility and going back and forth, it was clear that these two workers cannot do basic addition even with the help of a literal giant calculator with all the products and prices on in front of them. Perhaps a few year 2 maths lessons are in order during the staff training.
In response to Karen- very fitting name- I am just one 5’7 tiny man, why on earth would I order 2 lattes for myself? I quite frankly don’t think anyone needs that much caffeine, and I specifically asked for one latte, because I am 1 person. So what you are saying is that the staff at this establishment can’t follow basic orders and get confused between me ordering 1 or 2 drinks. Also, when I questioned why it was so expensive, they did not clarify that it was for 2 drinks, they stated it was due to the double shot of caramel. And 2 iced lattes with 2 shots of caramel would come to £11.30…

Read moreWhat lovely food and wonderful service. A group of five who could not decide where or what to eat, we found ourselves here. All before the onset of hangry children took effect! Cafe Giardino was a life saver, who had more than enough space, and a great menu to meet all our needs.
Well not a single person left unhappy, the portion size is very good, so good we had leftovers.
We had two small salads (potato salad and a greek) and still took some home. I worry about the size of a normal salad, as this must feed several people. Also on our order were two lovely panini's which were so fresh and well filled (im known to get annoyed with poor sandwich filling) that im still thinking about them. One order of the carbonara (which was devoured in minutes), a sign of how fresh and tasty it was. Thus making our grumper very happy. While the smaller parties of our group wolfed down some chicken and chips, which they didnt even ask for ketchup!
All in with drinks and extras, the total bill came to just over £50, but very much worth it for a group of five, during the afternoon. We all ate as we wanted (no tears or moaning) all had drinks and had left overs. We could have spent even more had we gone to one of the near by, and over crowded fast food chains.
We will be back or just make a point of stopping here...
Read moreToday was most probably my 5th time eating at this local. Today the staff weren't friendly at all. They were with other customers. For example, I sat down without a knife and fork. The younger of the two men mumbled something to me. I realised afterwards that he said the cutlery is over there. The next customer that sat down without their cutlery, the other man bought it to them. Compared to my other visits over the years, it seems they're downsizing in the portions. Also, I think a full breakfast should include a standard tea or coffee. I say this as many of the Croydon hotels do a buffet breakfast. Where you can eat as many bits of bacon or hash brownies from £10 - 17. With the Premier Inn being one of my favourites. I also asked for my saugages to be replaced with bacon. So with this, the younger man speaks to the older man in a foreign language about my order. They both can speak English perfectly well. I wanted to know what they were saying just in case the younger guy got it wrong. The best thing about this cafe is that it's spacious. And great for people watching, if busy. There are no toilets...
