If there is anything in which all Argentinians agree, it is our passion for football and the fact that we have the best food in the world, and that is what you can find in the new shop they have opened in Croydon. I sadly received the news that Casa Argentina definitively closed its doors at Wimbledon, however, the good news was that they would go on bringing our delicious products which we terribly miss since we left Argentina. I attended the new shop for the first time and I must say that I was very happy to see that all the products I need (and want) are still available there. From different yerba mate brands to our beloved Chocolinas, Havanna, Havanets, Bon o Bon and many more. There are also a great selection of Argentinian wines, vacuumed beef cuts, dough for making our empanadas and ready made ones, just to put them in the oven and start enjoying this delicatessen. Finally, I also found chimichurri, items for a proper Argentinian barbecue and, of course, many different brands of our national sweet, dulce de leche. In conclusion, I will definitely miss going for dinner to Wimbledon, but having Casa Argentina bringing all the products I need from my country is a pleasure for me. I absolutely recommend it, not only to Argentinian people but to all those who want to try the best products from our...
Read morePretty poor. Totally uninterested waitress, preferred to gossip with her friend and male companion, after someone else brought our drinks order the same young lady decided to ask us if we wanted to order drinks. The place was empty apart from us and a couple of other people a few tables away. Not exactly heaving. The final straw for my companion was not being offered bread while waiting for our meal. Now you might think this is no big deal but you're in an Argentine place and you order grilled meat and you're not offered or at least asked if you want bread is a big no no. That's sacrosanct. Add to that when the meal was finished and the staff ask you if everything is ok then not liking the response is pretty pointless, especially if the meat was pretty chewy. I was starving and still have a pretty good of teeth still but, no I'm sorry no good.
Pretty poor all in all, over priced for what it is which seems to the norm in Argentine...
Read moreI felt we'd gone on a bad night, because it is a cosy place with atmosphere but I have to be honest the food wasn't the best. Empanadas were good but 1 as a starter was enough. The plates weren't cleared before our mains turned up. The chips went back twice because they were cold, the side salad was boring, too much lettuce. The bread basket we ordered didn't arrive, the wine had a load of sediment. All the desserts were dulce de leche based. You also have to be able to use a QR code to read the menu and wine list. The owner is charming and we also showed him about a problem with the online booking system. He also said he'd had problems getting staff and it could be a great...
