Coin Laundry is a cool, relaxed restaurant in Exmouth market. With its high ceilings and open plan, it has an empty warehouse feel, almost like it’s been moved from the heart of Shoreditch or Hackney. It’s light and bright and the interior is filled with blues, greens and woods. The flowers on the tables give off a spring/summer season vibe, as though they’re bringing a bit of the outside in. There is also a basement area which opens into the evening until 1am Thursday to Saturday. The service was friendly and accommodating from the off and it didn’t take us long to get our Sunday roast orders in. The drinks menu features a handful of cocktails, draught, canned and bottled beer with plenty of wine and spirit options too. With it a little warm out, we tried to continue the late summer/early autumn vibes (helped by the interior) with a pint of Mortimer’s Orchard Cider (£5), which was delicious. We also tried the Stiggins’ Daiquiri (£9), a mix of pineapple rum, lime and cardamom. It was strong and a little tart, but went down very well. The Sunday menu runs from 11am through to 9pm. There are a number of snacks, sharers and small plates for if you are just popping in for a light lunch or nibbles over a catch-up. There are a few regular mains too (including a beef burger and cauliflower and okra curry), but on a Sunday, there’s just one thing for it…a roast. The roast menu features four options, three meat and one veggie, all served with roasties, seasonal veg, a Yorkshire pudding and gravy. We’ve heard our fair share of moaning about vegetarian options when it comes to roasts. However, the Beetroot and woodland mushroom Wellington with porcini gravy (£13.50) was actually pretty good! No soggy bottoms here – the wellington was delicious. Whilst we would have preferred whole/larger pieces of mushroom, it still had a great flavour, accompanied with the mushroom gravy. The Slow roast lamb leg with mint sauce (£16.50) stole the show. The lamb was tender, with a fantastic flavour, and there was plenty of bold mint sauce to accompany the dish too.The roasties were fluffy inside and nice and crisp outside, and the selection of seasonal veg was great too. We loved the mix of greens and pearl onions which is being served right now! As for the Yorkshire puddings, well they were massive. There are three desserts if you have space, including a dark chocolate fondant, panna cotta and cheesecake. Coin laundry restaurant in Exmouth Market is a bright and contemporary, yet cosy, spot for Sunday lunch. The roasts were both generous portions, and super tasty – even the vegetarian option went down a treat. They have some great beers and ciders to accompany them (whether you’re going meat or veggie), and the service is friendly. Definitely one to consider for Sunday lunch this week!

I absolutely LOVE this place. We were looking online for a wedding venue and came across Coin Laundry because it was a really affordable option for us to get married in London. We went to have a look around and test out the food, and we instantly loved it! We tried the Sunday roast with some other sides on the menu and a couple of cocktails – everything was incredible. Also we loved the style and atmosphere of the venue – it has a super relaxed, casual vibe, and very cool understated décor without feeling boring. We went back on a few separate occasions before the wedding to try more food / drinks and look at the venue again and every single time we went there, everything was perfect – venue, atmosphere, food, staff and service all 10/10! Zac, Robbie and Jake were all so helpful right from the beginning of the booking/planning process, and on the day we met the manager Sonny and his team who were brilliant and made everything run so smoothly! The venue was set up beautifully, exactly how we had hoped, they listened to all our requests and we didn’t have to do anything ourselves which was great and took away the stress on the day. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a nicer team to look after us on the day, everyone was so attentive and friendly! So many of our guests commented on how amazing all of the food was too (we had starters, mains and an evening buffet). It was all slightly non-traditional and way more interesting than the usual wedding meals you get, so we were really happy. So impressed that they managed to get 70ish people served and cleared so quickly too! After the meal, everything was cleared away so quickly on the ground floor whilst we had all moved downstairs into the basement for the first dance. The staff changed over for the evening and Billy and the bar team were all so lovely too and kept things running perfectly. They were so patient with us at the end too, when they were trying to clear up and go home at the end of the night, with lots of very drunk guests who were not moving out particularly quickly! The whole team at Coin Laundry were fantastic and worked so hard – we are so grateful to you all, thank you so much for an amazing day! We will definitely be back in the future (although just for food & drinks, hopefully I won’t be getting married again anytime soon!) (Photos by Barbara Markiewicz)

I went to this restaurant/pub for lunch on a Thursday, whilst some other restaurants in the sane street were packed with people this restaurant was very quiet, when I first got in, I thought the inside was a bit dark with very simple decorations. A lady (model) was taking photos at a corner with a photographer, though a waitress was in the restaurant, she didn’t really come to serve us or take us to a table, so I was wondering was it opened or was it just a photo studio or was it like a causal cafe we just find our own table to sit down?! So I walked in and asked the waitress should I find a table myself, at this point she then said she could find a table in another side of the restaurant so the model could take photos on the other side. I felt it was very causal that we were not being served at all. The menu is simple without many choice to choose from, I had the sea bream and smoked mussels, I agree with other reviews that the portion is quite small with the price I paid for the dish (£17), I had a glass of Mai Tai, to be honest it was quite disappointing, that was the worst Mai Tai I had ever had, too much ice no taste at all. My husband had the chicken & mushroom pie, it was actually quite tasty. Overall it was ok.

We hired Coin Laundry for our wedding in July and it was absolutely incredible. We had to change venues at short notice for reasons outside of our control and from the moment we chose Coin Laundry they were amazing from start to finish. Communication with Zac and the team in the months leading up to the day was great with quick, clear and detailed responses to all of our questions and we were assigned a planner called Cara who went through everything, from menus, to table set up, timings and everything inbetween to make sure things ran smoothly on the day. We had a Studio 54 theme for the day and so had a vision of how we wanted the space to look and they accomodated all of our requests without any trouble. The team decorated the space for us on the day and they were happy for us to drop things off the day before, including the cake and other sweets which meant we weren't having to bring things on the day. It was really important for us to have good food at our wedding and we were not disappointed. It was delicious and fresh and we had so much good feedback about it from guests which was great! If you are looking for a relaxed and fun wedding venue in London then we would definitely recommend Coin Laundry. They made our day one that we will remember forever and we wish we could do it...
