I've been to this bar twice since it opened, first to try out the cocktails and again to treat my mum to some afternoon tea.
As a venue for a night out, this place has the right mix of laid back ambience and up-market style. The bar has a huge selection of premium spirits, and an innovative cocktail list, the candy floss cocktail is worth a try. Fete lounge have competent bar staff who were able to make me a cocktail that wasn't on their menu too.
I went to Fete Lounge again to try out their afternoon tea with my mum. The food was served al fresco style on a bespoke mini picnic bench which fit perfectly with the rustic wood panelled walls. It's impossible to be left hungry after a Fete Lounge afternoon tea, with SIX courses that finish with a surprise ending, it's wise to go with an empty stomach.
The nicest part of my afternoon tea was the complimentary mini cheese selection which was a lovely surprise. I had called to let them know we were vegetarians but loved cheese and voila we received a very thoughtful addition to our sandwich selection.
On a final note, the management at Fete Lounge are lovely, both owners came over to check on us several times and nothing seemed too much trouble. This is a place I will definitely go to...
Read moreBeen a couple of times now I must say that they serve great cocktails. The bar is very small and awkward and a poor layout inside which when busy can make you feel as though you are always in the way of someone especially if you don't have a table. This is not necessarily the fault of the owners as it is an awkward space to begin although I'm sure the layout can be improved. The main reason for the 3 stars is that unfortunately on both visits and the thing that lets this place down is that i have found the staff to be not particularly friendly or welcoming on both occasions and when I am paying almost £10 per drink I expect a little bit of courtesy or even a smile. I am all for supporting local independent businesses hence the second visit however, how many times do I need to visit to get a friendly welcome. Certainly worth a try for the great cocktails! Maybe I've just been unlucky and caught them on a bad...
Read moreDo not go to Fete Bar. We booked a table for 4, but when we arrived, the entire venue had effectively been taken over by a hen party. They were mid-quiz, shouting across the restaurant and completely dominating the space. Good for them and I don’t blame them at all—but it wasn’t possible for an extra table of 4 to have a nice drink in there because it was all so loud and took over the small space.
We were shown to the only other table, right in the middle of the party where we would be facing them all, I told the manager I didn’t think it wasn’t acceptable and asked to cancel our booking that night as we just wouldn’t feel ok about this, but he refused. They shouldn’t have taken 1 extra booking for 4 guests and they should have booked out the whole place for the hen party
To make things worse, they’ve now charged me a no-show fee—even though I showed up, explained the situation. Really...
