Pieno-Lleno Restaurant — Restaurant in London

If, like me or some of the people I know, you have tried booking here and assumed they are fully booked for the next year - they are not.

We have tried booking a table here for months as i am a fan of the one in southend, but every friday and Saturday they are completely booked out from 5:30 until 10pm. I thought "Wow this place must be packed constantly! Sod it, lets just try walk-in, google says it isnt busy right now" so we walked into the restaurant @ 6:45 and to our surprise it was completely empty except 2 families. The kind waitress asked if i had a reservation? I explained we did not and she looked me dead in my eyes and said im so sorry we are fully booked. As you can imagine this was unexpected considering we were stood in a COMPLETELY EMPTY restaurant at 6:45. After some back and forth the still patient waitress explained that you can only book 5:45 or 8pm and you get that whole 2.5 hours to eat regardless of when you show up, that they get fully booked MONTHS in advance but not to worry you can go on a wait list. Let me please remind the readers that we were still standing in an empty restaurant. We walked out with empty (which I guess means full now?) bellies and confused minds.

Pieno Lleno On Sunday we payed our first visit to Pieno Lleno a Mexican restaurant in Upminster. I’m delighted to say that it won’t be our last. From the moment we arrived to the time we left everything was perfect. When we arrived we recieved a friendly welcome before being seated in one on the booths in the centre of the restaurant. We ordered a drink while we looked at the menu which features all of your Mexican favourites like Nachos . Quesadillas , Fajitas , Burritos , Chimichanga , Tacos as well as Fish , Burgers , Pizza , Pasta and Desserts. We decided to choose the Small Nachos , Jalapeño Bullets and Spicy Tequila Prawns to begin. These were delicious so now we couldn’t wait for our mains. Here we opted for a BBQ Pulled Pork Burrito and Mexican Fries and on the waiters advice the Prawn Quesadillas with a side of Onion Rings. All the food was perfectly cooked a tasted amazing. I decided to have the Churros for dessert and these were also very good and cam with caramel and chocolate sauces ans a scoop of vanilla ice cream. We finished with a coffee to end a fabulous lunch where the food was amazing and the service was excellent. So yes I would highly recommend a visit. A bit random I know but my wife and I were on the way to visiting friends in Kent and Upminster was the half way point to stop for lunch!

My wife has had a deep love of Mexican food since spending time in the States many years ago and a quick search of Mexican restaurants in the area brought up Pieno Lleno. A quick review suggested that this would be nice although online reviews are always hit and miss.

However we were not disappointed with this experience.

We were greeted warmly and the waiter asked if we had any allergies or special needs. The decor is lovely with an authentic Mexican theme, as you would expect.

We had nachos and veggie quesadillas for starters which were lovely. For main I had an enchilada and my wife had Mexican Cajun salmon filet. Both were fantastic. Flavours were subtle and tasty and the portions were ample. My wife washed it down with a cocktail.

If you like Mexican food come here. You won’t be disappointed. We will try the Southend branch next time as I...
