There is a number of decent Korean restaurants in New Malden, but GGM is unique for how it embraces the art of cooking, good quality ingredients and a truly authentic Korean taste.
We ordered the cuttlefish sashimi, short rib soup, seafood pajeon and grilled beef ribs. The pajeon is not only crispy on the outside, but extremely soft and fluffy in the inside. The short rib soup is flavourful and you can taste the pure sweetness of the bones and the meat (in many other K-restaurants you usually taste the sweetness from root vegetables, garlic and onions instead). The grilled beef ribs are juicy and tender while the cuttlefish is hot and spicy. Everything is seasoned perfectly without excessive sugar and oil which is VERY, VERY rare. You can also tell from a lot of details that the chef values Korean cooking and is dedicated to providing the best authentic Korean food in London (e.g from how they marinate their kimchi with dried shrimps, what rice they use and etc).
Service is also impeccable. The owner is so nice and friendly and taught us so much about Korean food and culture. I canโt wait to visit again with more people so I can try all...
ย ย ย Read moreVery clean and good ambience. Stands out from the rest of the surrounding shops. The order took a bit longer than it should, but we were a bit early anyway. They did not give us the curry sauce for the chicken katsu curry, even though we paid the extra 40p for it. Apart from that the food was nice and authentic. Oh, and the black pudding dish was not available, even though it was on the menu.
Update 2022: everything has changed! The restaurant has been completely revamped and is now accompanying a very comprehensive menu. There are dishes which you'd usually have to go to the likes of Jing Go Gae to eat, such as cold buckwheat noodles. So far everything we have tried is as good as they look.
Update 16/03/22: in response to the owner's comments below, I'd just like to clarify that the first part of my review was made when GGM was only just open many years ago, then the update 2022 paragraph was made recently when Google invited me to update my original review. My intention was to show there has been vast improvement since those early days, not...

The only side dish(banchan)offered was a little bit of cabbage kimchi. Nobody was there to provide service while we were eating. The owner was in the kichen. When we finished our meal, we wanted pay. So I went to the counter with my credit card, but a young lady(looks like daughter) was just there chatting on the phone with a friend. Even though she saw me, I was ignored. She just didnt care about me, so I went back to the table to push the table button, and then the young lady finally got up. Despite the lack of service, I still was charged a 10% service charge. The only service offered was just take the order and bring the food. They never even come back to see if we needed anything. With high reviews, maybe my expectations were too high, but to me, my experience was not like a 4.7 star...
