Food was great. Atmosphere was quieter than expected at 8pm on a Friday night, but myself and my boyfriend personally prefer quieter anyway, so that wasn't an issue. Waited a little longer than expected for our main (about 25 minutes) Staff on the whole were pleasant and polite. Unfortunately there was an air of prejudice from pur main waitress that impacted the general mood of our experience. My partner is African American, I'm white, as was out waitress. Whilst there was no overt racism/ discrimination, she approached our table approximately 6 times throughout our visit and at no point did she give my boyfriend any attention as you would expect from a server. She barely looked at him when taking our orders, and any queries around our satisfaction with the food we're aimed at me and me alone. On 2 of the 4 times she asked about our satisfaction with the food, she walked off whilst he was mid sentence after I had informed her my food was fine. Bear in mind, the restaurant was in no way busy, so there was no excuse for her rushing off whilst he attempted to speak with her. The last "blow", so to speak, was when my boyfriend requested the bill and she handed it straight to me without a second thought, which came across as presumptuous and rude, quite frankly. He exclaimed he would be taking care of the bill and without an apology she passed it over and walked off. Upon payment (£100+) she called over to her colleague to inform them we had not left a tip. On no less than 7 occasions throughout the 1.5 hours we were there she caused offence and discomfort to myself and my boyfriend, and given observations of her engagement with other patrons, there did appear to be an underlying prejudice apparent, which unfortunately ruined and otherwise...
Read moreUnacceptable Service at Miller & Carter Worcester Park
I recently visited Miller & Carter in Worcester Park, an experience that I had anticipated would be filled with delectable steaks and a pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately, it was marred by a distressing encounter with the management. The service we received was far below the standard expected from such a reputed establishment.
From the onset, the manager, Sham, displayed an attitude that was unprofessional and discourteous. An issue arose during our visit, and instead of handling it with the expected decorum and hospitality industry norms, Sham became confrontational. His approach was not only unreasonable but also disrespectful, turning what should have been a minor hiccup into a deeply upsetting ordeal.
As a patron, I understand that not every dining experience will be perfect. However, there is a basic level of service that is non-negotiable, especially when it comes to how managerial staff treat their customers. The lack of empathy and customer service skills demonstrated by the manager was shocking and completely out of line.
It is with regret that I must advise others to consider this experience before choosing Miller & Carter in Worcester Park for their dining needs. The food and ambiance, no matter how exceptional, cannot compensate for the lack of fundamental customer service, especially from those in managerial positions. I hope that this feedback is taken seriously and that measures are implemented to ensure no other customer has to endure such a...
Read moreNot a great experience with my Just Eat delivery order. Usually, I would visit the restaurant, however I decided to place a delivery order via Just Eat. I ordered from their burger selection. The order took around an hour to be delivered, and the delivery driver waited quite a while to collect the order. I can appreciate that it may have been busy so didn’t call to check the status of my order, just patiently waited. When the food arrived it was expectedly cold, so I had to re-heat it in the microwave. This was a minor problem compared to the next, which was that when I opened the burger box, I saw a nude plaster around the edges of the burger. I called the store to notify them of the issue and from the employee’s tone of voice, it sounded like they didn’t believe what I’d said. I was advised to contact Just Eat as the order was placed through their app so M&C have no control over the order. I understood this due to working in a food chain that also has these policies. However, I was struggling to get into contact with Just Eat, so I called the store again to be told they cannot help me. Unfortunately, the burger had to be thrown away as I didn’t feel comfortable consuming it. I’ve eaten at the restaurant many times and had a pleasant experience, but unfortunately it wasn’t the case with this delivery.
Edit - After submitting evidence of the incident, Just Eat provided a £9 refund (I paid £19). This is probably the only outcome that will come from this, so I’m appreciative that Just Eat tried to resolve it...
