So I asked the server if they had peppermint syrup for my mocha. He checked and said that they did so I went ahead and ordered a peppermint mocha as well as some food. He served the food and I had to remind him of my coffee as he hadnāt made it. He proceeded to make the coffee and then, before handing it to me he walked out of the shop to go on his break!! I pointed out to another member of staff, who I believed to be the manager, that heād left without completing my order! She reluctantly made me a mocha but didnāt put the mint syrup in so I pointed out that Iād paid for a peppermint mocha. It was at this point that another server piped up āWe donāt do peppermint, only mint!ā Now if someone asks for a peppermint mocha and you have mint syrup then it is pretty obvious that you would use that syrup to make a peppermint mocha!! There was absolutely no need to be pedantic and say they donāt do peppermint syrup! Then the manager began to question whether we had in fact paid for a peppermint mocha as she hadnāt heard me ask for it! She was out the back of the shop at the time that I ordered it so she wouldnāt have heard me order it! I had the order receipt on my Greggās app if she needed proof! She reluctantly gave me my peppermint mocha but not before the other lady had pointed out again that they didnāt have peppermint syrup, even thought the original server had said they did. There was no apology for the fact that the server walked out halfway through my order either. Iām not really surprised at the attitude of the manager though as on a previous visit to this branch she rolled her eyes, tutted and told me off for ordering my food before my coffee as she said āthe drinks take longer to make!ā Iām a customer, how would I know that?? I have been to Wallington Greggs multiple times before and ignored the behaviour of the staff (a particular lady) as one off, but today it really did upset me. Today, I went in with my 5 year old and picked up a couple of rolls and a coffee and didn't even look at the price and paid what was asked for. My little one started eating while I was finishing the payment, so I suggested that she take a seat. At that point, a woman staff member who was not at the till rudely told me ' It will be more money'. On asking what she was talking about, she said to eat in I have to pay more." Then she asked a youngster who was on till that did he enquire whether we wanted to sit in, and he said he assumed we wanted a take out. I asked her how much I needed to pay extra at which she said ' Not much'. I pointed out I was not aware things have different pricingĀ at which she said not for coffee but for food . I was confused, though, why the rule didn't apply for a coffee and whether i was allowed to sit in if i was just buying a coffee. However i had enough of the arrogant behaviourĀ and didn't want to create a scene in front of my 5 year old.Few kind words and humble customer service are definitely missing.
