Reserved a table during eat out to help out in advance but still had to wait 30 minutes for a table because staff were not checking reservation times on arrival but purely seating the next party in the queue. When we finally sat down, the manager Elton did try to make up for the delay by ensuring that we werenât waiting too long for the food which was appreciated. I had the fish and chips which was underwhelming at best and had it not been for the 50% off, I would not be inclined to eat here again. The manager asked us at the end of the meal if we enjoyed the food and I told him about my disappointment that the peas werenât in fact mushy peas which was specified in the menu, but rather dry petit poi peas partially crushed with a fork! The manager didnât really empathise and said that these were mushy peas which was surprising to say the least. Their website states the manager has worked in Gordon Ramseyâs restaurants to hone his craft. Well, I dread to think what colourful language Gordon would use if he found out one of his ex-employees was passing this off as âmushy peasâ!
Ironically, we also spoke to another member of staff prior to speaking with the manager, a lady, whom agreed with us and chuckled that these werenât really mushy peas, so it was a shame that the manager continued to take full payment, dismissed a customerâs genuine concerns and didnât empathise or really try to rectify the situation in anyway. I didnât give this one star because as previous reviews have pointed out the interior design is very good and I can imagine it being a great place to have a party or...
Read moreWe went for Sunday lunch - the food was absolutely brilliant, very tasty roast (slightly odd choice to have two huge mounds of different cabbage as the main veg, but both done well) - however I've marked down a star as the ambience definitely left something to be desired - we arrived at 1pm on easter Sunday and for a while were the only occupied table (we definitely hadn't needed to worry about not finding parking!). The music was club-like, definitely not your normal Sunday lunch music, and the signs outside were all advertising the club nights. In addition, there were still some sad Christmas decorations hanging. I suspect the music and advertising is putting people off coming here for lunches - which is a shame as the food is excellent. I would also like to see a few more non alcoholic drinks - there are a couple of great mocktails but no other non alcoholic ciders or spirits which I would appreciate.
To summarize - I would absolutely recommend here for the food, but would suggest there's a few things that could be done by management to make this a more welcoming place for...
Read moreWe had a fabulous evening at Hadley House from the minute we walked in. We were visiting my birthplace of Barnet and happened to be celebrating our 19th wedding anniversary. Owner Toniâs care and attention to detail made our experience so special. We were seated at a lovely table. Wonderful menu and drink pairings. We shared the delicious salt and pepper calamari appetizer, followed by the lamb cutlets main and Hadley Prawn main. We managed to save a little room for a dessert to share and went to the outside area to enjoy the crĂšme brĂ»lĂ©e, which slipped down easily! Hadley House is a wonderfully surprising gem. The restaurant has many uniquely different areas to enjoy. We were particularly impressed with the retractable roof outside that allows for all weather enjoyment - critical for the good old English weather!! Toni is a very interesting man who has lovingly curated a restaurant of note. He truly cares about making your visit enjoyable. Weâll definitely be back next time weâre...
