This restaurant is by far one of the best restaurants I have been to. Firstly the convenient parking outside started my experience off to a good start, upon entering the restaurant I was greeted by big smiles and a warm welcome, and waited less than a minute to be seated, impressive as it was a very busy Friday night. We sat down and were seen to straight away for our drinks and starters orders. We opted to share a main calamari between the two of us for a starter and to my surprise it had been the freshest tasting calamari I have ever eaten, I have been to many places in and around the Barnet/Cockfosters area and I always get calamari to start, and I have to say you will miss out if you do not experience the taste of the Odos Calamari! Light crispy healthy portions with amazing taste! Easily the best I have ever had. Swiftly after, our mains arrived and we had ordered lamb chops and chicken shashlik with sides of triple fried chips. The lamb chops came exactly how we asked, medium well, cooked and crispy on the outside and the meat melting as it was bitten into, the chicken shashlik was tasty and flavoursome and was a very healthy portion, the triple fried chips were made exquisitely, soft and fluffy on the inside and crispy on the out. I have to give credit where it is due, and the chefs have impressed me highly. The experience doesn’t end here, throughout the night we were acknowledged multiple times to ensure we were ok and to check if we needed anything. Picture a busy Friday night fully booked and yet the waiters and waitresses still made sure every table was acknowledged, the atmosphere was great, spacious with a beautiful layout, extremely elegant and the overall standard of this restaurant is just beyond my expectation, the food is fairly priced, the quality of food is exceptional, the service is one of the best I have experienced in London. I will definitely highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. 10/10 for the food, the service,...
Read moreThe place can be a great one as it is in a good area, it is very clean, has a nice atmosphere and set-up and they play good entertaining music. But, the food is below average for the price. Went yesterday with my wife as a 1st visit and will not go 2nd time. The place was almost empty and asked if we can seat by the window and were told that is reserved for 6pm although there was no reserved signs on the tables. Ordered 1 pork and 1 chicken souvlaki and the waiter asked if we want something else as it does not come with anything, it's just the meat. In Greece and Cyprus they always bring it with chips, salad, tzatziki sauce and pitta but not here. The meat had good quality but had funny smells because probably the grill was not used or cleaned properly and maybe they did not separate the raw meat before cooking. We also asked for a portion of tzatziki as mentioned, it does not come with it and the size of it was ridiculously small for 5£. It was less than 20% of the size they offer you in any other Cypriot or Greek restaurant in London for this money. And on top of that, they put service charge on the bill. What for? So I asked them to take it out. My wife has Greek origins and we know how a souvlaki should taste and be served, also after travelling and living around in various places in Greece and Cyprus. No wonder the place was almost empty. It's a pitty because it does have a...
Read moreI was so pleased to hear that the lovely, shmoozy owner Louis had opened once again after selling Carob Tree in Highgate. For obvious reasons this place has dramatically deteriorated since his departure.
But Odos, according to my wife, who is always right, she tells me... is way better than Carob Tree ever was. The grilled fresh fish on blackboard is just the same; as good as any fish restaurant in the country, including those by the sea and poncey places in London. Honestly, I'm being serious. Especially the massive Cornish Brill; one portion enough for three, be warned
But Odos is more than great food; the place is beautiful with plenty of room for social distancing for the Covid 19 insecure; and for the rest of us it's just really bright and modern, with funny things on the ceiling like at The Albert Hall for acoustics so you can hear yourselves speak...not that anyone wants to hear me speak.
The service was exceptional and you will get a gorgeous bowl of proper fresh fruit for dessert if you behave yourselves.
I can't wait to go back again to this wonderful restaurant even though I live miles...
