I've ordered food from this Restaurant before very begrudgingly using the just eat app...
The food has Always been a great with their interpretation of modern British Indian cuisine...
While the food isn't wildly different or experimental or ground breaking,,, what you'll get here are solid examples of traditional modern British Indian restaurants cuisine...
Since I wasn't too far away from their restaurant I decided that instead of ordering via an app... I'd actually sit in and order a meal...
I ordered their king prawn biryani which is Always fantastic but instead of the regular curry sauce that comes with it as standard... I asked for a prawn Rogan Josh instead and obviously I'd pay for the difference in costs...
I tend to ask for custom modifications to my dishes in restaurants... The chef could NOT possibly have pre cooked the food and kept it sitting around waiting for the next customer to arrive... they'd have to cook it fresh.... or not be able to supply the dish with the modifications that I requested...
I Also ordered onion bhaji's and sheek kebabs... The all arrived fairly quickly and they were as expected... the food tasted great and was well presented and considering the recent increase in the costs of the raw ingredients and fuel prices and operating costs of the restaurant... the price was reasonable....
In fact... although the portions sizes were a fairly standard take away container sized portions... I couldn't finish it it one sitting so the staff kindly brought me several take away containers and helped me pack it up for take away....
They even introduced me to their head chef and I honestly felt like a maharaja as they did everything excepted to make me feel comfortable and very welcome in their fantastic establishment...
I'd easily recommend that you come here for a decent standard of modern British Indian cuisine... in my experience they've never missed the mark... ever.... if possible... do sit in the restaurant instead of getting a takeaway as you get all the benefits of table service at no additional cost.... and you can get precise adjustments to your dishes that you can't get from ordering on apps....
They are more than happy and willing to adjust the amount of chill and spices and make alterations to your dishes upon request...
so yeah.... You can order a korma with so much chilli it burns... or a vindaloo with no chilli and spices... but quite why you'd do this is beyond me... lol... But they are most accommodating and will blend dishes as requested to your tastes...!
I didn't check but I'm sure that they have plenty of vegetarian options available... the restaurant was well lit bright and airy... furniture and decor were of a reasonably good quality and standard for a small restaurant of this type...
Definitely worth considering if you fancy a decent curry at a...
Read moreDreadful!!! We ate here on Sunday evening and chose the buffet menu. Hardly any left, wasn't topped up and was cold. Should have been told was unavailable and to order from menu for fresh food. Staff were miserable and unaccomadating. Had to ask for ice three times as only put one cube in my glass when the warm glass of wine was served, obviously dissolved in seconds only to receive one more cube. After a third time of asking finally got some ice in a glass to help myself. Shouldn't be that difficult. One staff member had a terrible cold and this was so off putting when he was walking repeatedly up and down sniffing back into his throat and sneezing repeatedly. Then he sat by the bar eating his food with his fingertips. My partner also has a cold now thanks to him spreading his germs about and over the food we was obviously eating. He was wiping his nose on his hands and then wiping it on his trousers. How nice. Also, whilst trying to eat our meal thought we were in the way, as all staff members decided this was the right time to change all knapkins from tissue to linen, flapping them all about and having a conversation between themselves over the top of us in their own language. Then decided to clear the buffet away noisily banging around and again all walking back and forth. Was like eating in Liverpool Street station. Not a romantic evening out with my partner. On entering at 8.30pm should have been advised they were closing up as didn't feel welcoming at all. Wasn't even able to have a conversation as felt they were listening to every word. Do not recommend this place to eat at all for many reasons. Terrible, won't be going back. Have been here before and had the same vibe but thought we'd give it another try....
Read moreThis is our local Indian restaurant and in the past has been brilliant in their service quality of food and great for delivering. This evening 19th July the restaurant fell down in every way. There was five meals delivered which took almost two hours. My daughter had to phone the restaurant a number of times to enquire where our delivery was. Nothing but excuses on each call. Our food finally turned up after almost two hours. I had ordered a chicken tikka vindaloo. I would have been better off ordering a pack of extra strong mints. My vindaloo was watery and tasteless. Worst Indian Meal I’ve ever had. None of the other four meals were much better. They were worse. We were informed that Jay (the manager) was going to call my daughter. This didn’t happen. Needless to say, having used The Indian Ocean for many years, the family are now determined never to use this Indian Restaurant ever again. Disgraceful service and food this evening. Think twice before using...
