I will start this review off with : “WORST SERVICE EVER” - manager only wanted the staff for himself while he and his friends drank on the table at the front of the restaurant.
Arrived at the restaurant and we’re sat on a very small table - one for 4 people but they squeezed 5 people on it. The restaurant was empty and ample tables available - most unnerving was seeing a table as you entered with 5 men in the entrance - later we learned that the manager and his mates were having a social ! And that seemed to be the number one priority for all staff.
Papad - the chutney served is not proportional to the basket served.
Pani Puri - missed the sweet tamarind Lamb chops - heavily oily and very bland - marination had not penetrated the meat.
After 20 mins of watching the owner walk past us - talk to his friends, order his drinks for his table of friends, I asked if he could ask for our table to be cleared. Half the table was cleared and we had to pile our dishes to the side to make a genstire that the table needed cleaning and we wanted to order mains.
We had to call a waiter who was obliviously cleaning another table to take our order. The table next to us had been waiting 15 mins to provide their order and also called our waiter.
Toilets - have to climb stairs. This is not good for elderly parents. ( we were out for a fathers days dinner)
Manager - again oblivious when we’d tried to get eye contact - all he did was usher the waiting staff for his table to serve his friends.
Drinks - we needed replenishing. Bottle water and soft drinks. No one comes to ask.
We ordered Coca Cola - to be told they had run out. You are on a parade of shops - why would you not go get it.
This restaurant may be in the same place as the other ones that closed down. They have the benefit of the location but service needs to be improved by 200 %.
It’s been over 20 mins and we still don’t have any drinks replenishment. There are only 3 other tables in the restaurant with customers.
Service with a smile would also go a long while.
Washrooms / Toilets - they smell very bad. They are next to the kitchen and there is a very bad smell. It was like old food, mixed with heat. Not very hygienic.
MOST IMPORTANTLY. NO FACILITIES FOR DISABLED PEOPLE. Washroom was missing on the ground floor.
I’m so disappointed with this restaurant and I would say to most people....
Read moreOverview: Disappointing Experience IndiaWala
My recent visit to the above restuarant was unfortunately marred by several shortcomings in service and execution. Despite prior arrangements and clear communication of our needs were not met and the experience left much to be desired.
Upon arrival, on a SUNDAY (lunchtime)we eagerly anticipated the traditional masala tea promised upon reservation.I had made the reservations on a Friday evening (Kay) with clear instructions on our needs. On a Sunday morning I spoke to Sonal and out requests for masala tea and spicy puri was agreed .
However, it was disheartening to wait over an hour before being served, only to find that our group of eight was provided with insufficient tea pots for all guests. Though additional pots were eventually provided, the initial oversight was disappointing. The tea was requested on arrival but actually served almost when we had finished eating. It was a shame because the tea tasted great and we all commented on it.
Furthermore, our request for spicy puri with aloo subji was not met as expected. Despite confirming with the waiter that a plate of four puris with aloo subji would suffice for each guest, we were served two large puris without spices, leaving us unable to enjoy the remainder of the puris. This dish arrived nearly 40 minutes after ordering, and even with other snacks ordered, we had to remind the the waiters to serve as we were all starving.
Additionally, basic table preparation, such as providing water and ensuring all necessary condiments were available, seemed to be overlooked, further adding to our dissatisfaction with the overall dining experience.
In summary, our visit to the restuarant was marked by unmet expectations, delays in service, and a lack of attention to detail. It is regrettable that such lapses occurred, and it leaves us hesitant to return for brunch. I had been for dinner and only returned as i loved the ambience and wanted to promote the restarant for brunch especially Chai (tea).I feel sad to have to write a...
Read moreA new place on Hatch End high street so we thought to try it given how excellent everything else is, but we were really quite disappointed.
Hatch End has many nice restaurants and Indiawaale needs to up their game or they may not last for now. The decor is lovely, but the food and service really lets them down.
We asked for our starters to be brought out first, and two tandoori dishes to be brought out later as mains with naan. Everything was still brought at the same time, and when we asked about it, we were told that we requested everything to be brought out together (?) - we weren’t offered an apology. Bizarrely, he had come to double check if we wanted our naans with the mains or starters a few minutes prior so…
I think the kebabs were probably nice if they hadn’t come out very cold. The salt and pepper prawn had no salt, and the pani puri was quite average. The pau bhaji was very flavourless and really quite dreadful - we did feedback that we didn’t like the pau bhaji and were told ‘okay’ by our helper. When we requested the bill, the messy plates were left on the table rather than being cleared. Just from a business perspective even, you’re missing upselling products - when people ask for the bill, that’s the opportunity to offer dessert/drinks etc. There was none of that, poor customer service, nobody checks on you during your meal, and the food is cold and average at best.
The manager was extremely understanding and courteous to our feedback which I’m very appreciative of, but I think the rest of the staff need training on customer service, and the food needs mega improvement. It’s a competitive street with excellent restaurants, especially Indian restaurants. Wouldn’t recommend based on this experience - you’re better off at another establishment...
