A schnitzel sandwich that can make you smile from ear to ear? Weird opening line, I know. But that’s what happened. Schnitzel in general is one of those fairly formulaic, common things that is notoriously difficult to stuff up, and is usually of a standard that is common almost anywhere you go in the world. It is also difficult to find one that could be deemed elite. Then every so often you come across something that is special. Well I discovered precisely that in the back streets of Angel / Kings Cross in London, at Johnny Schnitzel. What a place. A providor/caterer with much to offer to those of quality taste, I went in specifically to try the schnitzel sandwiches. I settled on the J Schnitzel Special, and my word it matched those expectations. It was special indeed. The service was excellent and friendly. It was efficient as well, despite everything being made fresh. The schnitzel itself was so fresh that upon first eating I burnt myself in a mad rush to consume what smelt like an absolute treat. I will even admit to something embarrassing. I had intended to post this yesterday, but I ate the sandwich so quickly, I forgot to take photos… Such was my inability to stop eating once I started. Remember we are talking about a chicken schnitzel sandwich here. It should be pretty standard. This is anything but. I cannot recommend this place more highly. Just get here, try it. Eat every single thing they have here, it is amazing. I’ve come for two consecutive lunches… there...

Without doubt, no question at all, this is the best sandwich in London. Maybe perhaps even in the whole UK...

The pinnacle of your local Italian deli, you are welcomed with attentive, friendly service; provided with a dazzling array of top quality imported groceries; and the aroma of traditional Italian espresso.

However, the stars of the show are the door stop sandwiches - freshly and lovingly made to order with top quality ingredients, the variations on chicken cutlet on focaccia are to die for. Packed so high and so large, you need to warm up your jaw muscles for that first bite, the quality shines throughout the whole experience - you will not go wanting. I can and do easily recommend the Johnny Schnitzel Stack, Special or Gourmet options.

Absolutely worth the detour to come to this local deli, you will not be disappointed. As strong as a recommendation I can possibly make, Johnny Schnitzel is the Spot, the Real Deal, el Presidente, la grande fromage, numero uno - your insta and your stomach will...

Johnny Schnitzel at Myddeltons Delicatessen is the most gorgeous little spot in our fine city. The only faults are that the sandwich is too big for the plate, and thus, if you would pardon my crude honesty, they should think about installing a lavatory.

The loveliest proprietors in London and, if you're lucky, you may get your paws on some goodies for free. Or maybe that's simply because I am a loyal customer and they reward me in fudge brownie for it. Get your bottom over to Johnny Schnitzel, the 'Fudge Fairy', the real McCoy!

N.B. order their 'Bellissimo' sandwich. And to drink, order Duskin's Gala apple juice, which, simply put and to one's surprise, tastes just like apples!- and is the best apple juice that I have ever had! I find the Bramley a tad too sharp and the Discovery a tad too 'normal'. The Gala is perfect and the best. The brownie, too, and the carrot cake are...
