I've only ever stayed at a premier inn and I'm glad I have. This is amazing for a cheap, short stay though.
Don't get me wrong, this is not a bad place just it was questionable. Firstly, upon arrival, the staff members allowed a huge crowd of people to stand in the middle of the check-in area (they weren't checking in, they were just standing there chatting) without even telling people to come to them because they were open.
Once we went around them as some other customers mentioned it to us, we were questioned about our booking. We showed and told necessary info and the lady didn't even welcome us or anything. (no hello even) My brother recently turned 18 and she asked to call our bloody mother! We agreed and she spoke to the mum with a big smile on her face and bubbly attitude (she had a nice attitude don't worry just more if yk what I mean) asking if she was and I quote "aware that he was staying at a hotel" and that it was with me. I understand it might've been protocol and she was just doing her job but he's 18 so he can do whatever the hell he likes booking hotels and it's none of your business to question why. Other than that strange thing, she was nice. (As nice as someone who didn't really talk to you much, say hello/bye or left the room at one point because of another staff member mentioning something when all was left was our key card.)
I don't blame her for anything because she was a good person, you just can't really say much nice things over bad when they didn't show it enough!
When we got to the room, it was a bit small and the carpet looked dirty but it was nice. There was a kettle, tea and coffee sachets, milk and sugar left for us, towels (one had a bit of a yellowed colour to it, which was meant to be white but the others looked really clean and were folded beautifully) and amazingly made beds. I'm a bit confused on why they made the wall lamps attached to the bed's wall behind the pillows because it's a pain on the eyes and sleeping position as it's limited or hurts! Above the window-side bed was so many leak-patch bubbles in the ceiling paint that had been there prior and one was slightly slit and opened, ew! The bathroom was tiny but nice. The bath was a decent size but there was black spots in the corner, the drain had black stuff too, the toilet flushing button pushes in too far and the edges are sharp so it hurts you, the soap is advertised as foam soap yet it's watery and shoots onto the tabletop or in the sink and the vent ducts on the door are dusty. (Single wipe would clean)
The hotel is good other than those few problems so don't think it's all bad because it was a short stay so you focus on those bad parts but it is really amazing for the...
Read moreWe booked a 2 night stay at Travelodge Kings Cross Royal Scott back in August 2024, for our homage to Master Snooker each year in January 2025.|We arrived early at this hotel, knowing Travelodge are good to hold luggage in advance prior to check in. At 11am, we were told our 3 double rooms had been reserved. Our bags accepted and we left for the snooker at Ally Pally.||We returned late as we had anticipated and told the receptionist. On check in we were told no double rooms left!! Ouch.. how can that be, with hotel knew we had already been there early and left bags. Appears no communication between staff and receptionist place no notes on our booking great!!||we were offered twin rooms but after complaining they found us all family rooms. My room 215 instructed to take lift to floor 2 was actually in the basement. The room on first presentation appeared large with 1 double and 2 single beds. Our view from the window was met with a large 6ft wall and above it the main footpath on side of the road outside of hotel. I am in the customer experience profession, and knew the hotel staff have an option to make what appeared to be wrong right when I complain the next morning. However, it was the longest night in history, 1am woken by dust carts moving about outside on the road, after 30mins, fell back to sleep only to be woken again at 04:30am by the side of London Underground that clearly operates beneath hotel foundations and this sadly went on until i complained to day staff at reception at 08am.|The room itself, was very dated, old wardrobe that the doors do not close, and scratches on the handles, black grime under the sink visible when you enter the bathroom. |I would never recommend this room to any couple let along families very un hygienic. ||Day staff wanted a reason for my request to change rooms and seemed astonished when I mentioned the noise from outside and the underground, I cannot believe no one has reported this before, but i seriously urge anyone especially with families to avoid this room or any basement room at this hotel.||The next room was a lot better, a smaller room yet with a large TV than a big family room, very weird. But good.||Overall from first arriving to check in was very disappointing and a let down to the...
