I recommend avoiding this place if you value your time, money, and sanity. I spent £95 at this Afghan restaurant on a mixed grill and a family platter, expecting a satisfying meal, but the experience was an absolute disaster from start to finish. • Portion Size: The family platter is advertised as serving 2-3 people, but it barely fed two. Adding insult to injury, it came with only one tiny bowl of salad—a joke for something marketed as a “family special,” that served 2-3 people • Missing Items: The family platter was supposed to include 3 pieces of chapli kebab, but these were missing from my order. When I called the restaurant to point this out, they refused to believe me and said I was wrong, despite their online menu clearly stating that chapli kebabs are included which I have included a picture of. I called the restaurant and after sending them pictures of the proof, they reluctantly agreed to give me the 3 pieces of chapli kebab. • I had to drive back to the restaurant to resolve the issue. When I arrived, the chef confronted me and demanded I prove where it says chapli kebabs are included in the family platter. Very rude. I showed him the online menu, where it was written clearly. Instead of apologizing, he brushed it off as if it didn’t matter. • Taste: When I finally got the chapli kebabs home, they were absolutely terrible. They were packed with onions and had barely any meat and was nasty. I felt like I was eating pure onions. The rest of the food wasn’t much better—the meats were dry and the overall flavor was lacking. The bread was the only silver lining of the food which is very laughable after spending nearly £100.
This was a terrible experience from start to finish. Spending £95 for missing items, rude service, and bad food is unacceptable. The fact that I had to prove their own menu to their staff and then deal with awful food afterward was beyond frustrating. I will never return, and I recommend avoiding this place if you value your time,...
Read moreWe haven’t even left the restaurant and I had to write a review! Kabul City Restaurant in Colindale, just opened 6 weeks ago, driven past a few times and decided to try it out today.Welcomed very warmly by brother Ismail. The place was empty as we were between lunch and dinner. We placed our order for charsi karai and quabli with maicha (lamb shank). We weren’t very hungry so didn’t order starters but Brother Ismail kindly brought over a trio of starters with warm naan and the most delicious fattoush salad I have ever tasted. The starters were delicious, definitely not shop bought & transferred in dishes. Mains- charsi karai was again absolutely delicious- the meat came off the bone and melted in the mouth. Nicely spiced not over bearing with loads of green chilli scattered on top.The quabli was nicely fragranced with the right amount of raisins and carrots , the lamb shank came off the bone so easily. Brother Ismail brought some complimentary saag which you could taste the butter and complimented the quabli and charsi perfectly. The naan were nice and hot and fluffy and didn’t go crispy like I have had in other Afghani restaurants. We ordered tea and Nokol(sugared almonds) to finish off the amazing meal. The tea was nice and light not at all bitter.I have never done a review on here before but felt inclined due to the amazing service and food here. So, if you’re ever in NW London, especially Colindale please give this place a try. Easy to spot as it’s on the corner of Edgware Rd and Highfield...
Read moreI love this place. It's like one of the 5 star restaurants in the city of London I can no longer afford and it's moved to the local area. City of London is overrated now. Come to this place for any occasion I can guarantee you will not be disappointed. I came here for Eid. It is easy to get too. The venue is great. They have a big TV and play good music too. Last time the balochi singer kaifi khalil was playing here. This place is blessed. I met a person from Saudi Arabia here too. There is AC in the summertime. It's like being in another country again so when you are fed up of England go here. Also the food is nutritious authentic Afghan like you eat at your mother's house. I have eaten many things on the menu and am looking forward to more food from the chef. Do not hesitate to come here you will not regret it. Especially if you were hungry. Lastly there is a masjid opposite the place so I managed to pray one time unlike other places you go to sometimes you miss your salah in social events. Nothing to complain about hence the 5 stars. Also to the non Afghans you must try mantu. A unique afghani side dish. What is a meal without mantu. I had to travel long distances before to find this dish. Sometimes the place doesn't serve it but here they ALWAYS have mantu. You can get here from both kingsbury rd station or colindale station if you are a hungry Londoner and looking for healthy halaal food. No need to go far anymore for special occasions. The area is safe...
