Going Greek is Going Downhill Takeaway from the Colindale branch – Friday, 2 May 2025 Sadly, this once-excellent place seems to be cutting corners. The photos speak for themselves – this is what £12.00 gets you now. There are no holes in the chicken pieces from skewers, unlike in the past when they were properly grilled. That’s likely because the chicken portions are now too small to be threaded onto skewers at all. Of course, prices have increased across the board due to higher costs of produce and electricity. Customers understand this. But raising prices while reducing quality is unacceptable. It's not just disappointing – it feels like an insult to loyal customers who supported you when the food was genuinely good. If this is a wider cost-cutting directive across all Going Greek branches, it's a very poor business decision. Word will spread, and you'll lose your regulars. And although I wish it weren’t the case in 2025, I must echo what another reviewer said: there's still clear favouritism in how quickly people are served and in portion sizes. It’s disheartening. You may as well rename the chain “Speak Greek”. This is no way to treat customers – and no way to run a business.

You can see my review below from about a year ago. But here is most recent update. I won't unfortunately be ordering again. I'm not sure whether chef is different or they try to save on food quality and quantity but it all got suddenly less tasty, taste less fresh and I no longer feel like its good value for money. Sad!!! ** recent addition to the menu - Pastichio is wonderful!!!! Love it! Very nice both gyros and souvlaki. Both chicken and lamb. Wrap and naked boxes are great. Prices reasonable. Greek salad amazing. Tzatziki and honey-mustard sauce very tasty. Love also the flat bread! I am not a fun of meatballs, but saying that this is just my preference, objectively they were really nice. I had some puddings and they are also delicious.

If you want a nice restaurant with a dozen tables, waiters and Greek music and a relaxing evening dinner this may not be the place. Outside there are three silvery tables and some silvery colour chairs. In pleasant weather about 10 people can sit outside. İnside, between door and food counter where you order, is an area approximately 2 yards long by 3 yards wide. There is seating for about 4 people only. Chicken souvlaki wrap costs £6.25 and comes in a paper bag, it has pıtta wrap, quite firm but soft texture, chicken, a few chips and some salad. It feels like eating a burger at McDonalds. A tasty quick lunch but expensive compared to McDonalds and that is it for me. Food hygiene rating 5.

Subject: Outstanding Service and Food – Collindale & Borehamwood Branches

Dear Going Greek Team,

I just wanted to take a moment to express my appreciation and give some positive feedback based on my experiences at your Collindale and Borehamwood branches.

I’ve been visiting the Collindale branch regularly over the past year—around seven or eight times—and I must say, the service has been consistently outstanding. Betty, in particular, deserves special mention. Her warmth, professionalism, and attentiveness really stand out. Whether it’s managing busy shifts, taking orders, or interacting with drivers and customers, she does it all with a smile and grace. Her colleague (whose name I, unfortunately, don’t recall) has also been excellent during my visits.

The quality of the food is another highlight. Every time I’ve ordered—whether dining in, taking away, or even when I’ve waited outside on the phone—the team has brought out the food with care and kindness. The taste, freshness, and consistency are always top-notch.

My experiences at the Borehamwood branch have also been very positive, and it’s clear that the high standards extend across your locations. Although I haven’t yet visited the other branches, I can genuinely say I’ve become a loyal fan of Going Greek.

Wishing you all continued success, and I hope to see your business expand further across London. Thank you for the great service and delicious food—keep up the amazing work.

Have a lovely summer and take care. Warm regards, Zia

Let me know if you’d like a shorter version or want to send it somewhere specific—I can help format it for Google Reviews, Instagram messages, or wherever you’d prefer.Wow Amazing food been here 3 times been served by Andrea and her colleague blonde hair lady didn’t get her name . nice , friendly service food exceptional each visit while they are extremely busy ,also been to their branch once in Boramwood was great there too . Each time I visited I’ve gone to Greece by their delicious cuisine. Best Gyros in London . Thank you and look forward to many more visits. 😊🙏⭐️

PS . It’s a shame they don’t have a store yet near Ruislip area as there is an open market in the area for this Greek cuisine. Maybe in time as they have a few already in London and it’s finding the unit too . But any where around the Ruislip region would work as there’s too many...

I legitimately had to charge my phone for this review...

Demeter works her holy magics in this kitchen sprinkling each meal with passion and ambrosia.

Feta on handcut chips people feta like this was a taste sensation the creamy soft feta seasoned perfectly with light hints of citterois. The chips were perfectly cooked, the box felt it it was never ending, but it did. However I was not sad, having ordered more of this kitchens fantastic food.

The lamb was a true experience of beauty, a light crispness to the outside yet still being filled with the juices and flavour it's texture was a marvel to have in my mouth.

Now we get to the chicken meatballs and chips...I shall start with the hand cooked chips, which were bountiful and plenty. Cooked with the same dedication to glorious flavours and textures as my last dishes. The true magnificence lies with the chicken meatballs, who were so expertly seasoned I ate them slowly like a box of chocolates in front of a movie. The seasoning was an oral experience, they were soft, tender and perfectly cooked. With these sweet nuggets of onion to give them a little delicate crunch.

Truly hands down the best takeaway I have had in a whole. On a chilly evening I felt like I had sat down on one the Greek isles and had a truly unique and amazing food experience. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and stomach, I will be eating here again and I recommend people...
