I went to this āpunjabi restaurantā for my birthday, and it was a disaster from start to finish. First off, it was so loud we had to scream just to hear each other across the table. There was a table full of kids running wild, screaming, and opening the door every five seconds like they were at a circus. The adults eating at the restaurant were no better.
Service? Nonexistent. They didnāt even have a drinks menu. We had to play detective just to figure out what drinks they had. We ordered virgin mojitos, and what we got was a glass of black salt at the bottom with a pathetic mint leaf on top. It was vile, and we sent all of them back. The glasses at the table for water were all sat rim-down, which was kind of unsettling.
Now, the food. My god. The paneer and butter chicken were smothered in an embarrassing amount of spice, and they brought our curries out in FRYING PANS. The garlic naan? One massive, sad naan impaled on a stake like some weird balidaan, and it didnāt even taste like garlic.
We barely managed to choke down the food and literally sprinted from there. Terrible service, terrible atmosphere, and terrible food. Honestly, this place was like a cheap roadside dhaba with a oversized ego. If I could give zero stars, I would. Do yourself a favour and skip this place, youāre better off eating at Greggs.
Edit since getting a reply
The reply this business has given me is actually a bit laughable. Yes, restaurants, especially Indian ones, tend to be noisy. But calling my experience a ācompletely false claimā rather than taking accountability is crazy. You have a TV playing music but the noise was so loud that we couldnāt even hear it, so is that not an indicator? The fact that youād rather get personal than actually responsibly address my review is very telling. Yes, I was a child once too, but my family also came there to relax and socialise, which was impossible.
If butter chicken is a tava dish then why isnāt that mentioned? Why are people posting pictures of it, NOT in a whole frying pan? Misleading. And you know what? There is no need to be condescending about how butter chicken is made. Iām fully aware, and it is NOT a spicy dish, which is why itās popular among white people.
Threatening to release CCTV footage of our table is honestly a very weirdly defensive and despicable thing to write down. But you can go ahead and do it if it helps you sleep at night. The food was not good, but we have been taught not to let food on our plates go to waste.
This reply has just solidified the image of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStandard of Indian restaurant is just poor around Hounslow, ordered Sunday 11th of February 2018:
Mixed veg starter this consisted of: 3 samosas, 3 spring rolls, grill-chared paneer, potato pakoras, 2 spiced potato wedges and arrived with mint yogurt sauce and chilli sauce, portion size was good for price charged. Food was put in foil bag so arrived at a good temperature. Quality was just poor, Samosas and spring rolls fried well, but tasted cooked from frozen, and samosas were smelly and typical of generic Indian spices around Hounslow in terms of poor flavour (e.g. Shree Krishna Vada Pav). Pakoras were crispy, outer fried well, but in a few potato was hard inside.
Chips also were put into a separate foil bag and arrived hot. Good size portion. The only item I enjoyed.
Galub jamun was put in foil container with paper lid, arrived warmed, but not to my taste and nothing that showed restaurant standard as oppose to Ambala.
Ruined warm Rasmalai, foil container used which absorbed all the heat of the food above, which was all put in the same brown paper bag, which was placed in a plastic bag, this caused some leakage.
Really average, unappetizing food which cost £17.99 with £2.50 Uber delivery. Appears like all Indians have done deal with Macy around here so ppl head there, waste of money. My other option on uber appears to be to pay double for "fine dining" experience for the dishes I wanted. Not keen on having to pay fine dining prices just to get a decent take away. Two stars for the use of foil bags, and "skill" standard of frying, even if food being fried is just poor. I am certain of this being a terrible way to fill any stomach, being robbed by "20 samosas for a fiver" mass produced frying bag - when just looking for vegetarian alternatives. To be frank, momma had I frying exercising the same skill when I was 7, so not exactly sure what I am paying extra for. Not much of a foodie these days, but principle of doing fair business holds true, except this as your average then we are all in trouble for goods and services more dear to our hearts.

Visited King Kharai last weekend to catch up with some friends after hearing great recommendations, particularly for their dal makhani which I'd been craving. I'm happy to report it absolutely lived up to the hype!
The restaurant maintains a clean, decent atmosphere that's perfect for casual dining with friends. What really sets this place apart is their BYOB policy - you can bring your own spirits while they focus on what they do best: the food.
We ordered the butter chicken and garlic naan, and both dishes were genuinely delicious. The butter chicken had that rich, creamy texture you want, with well-balanced spices that weren't overwhelming. The garlic naan was fresh and perfectly complemented the curry.
The dal makhani that originally drew me here was outstanding - creamy, flavorful, and clearly made with care. You can taste the authenticity in their cooking.
Service was attentive without being intrusive, and the pricing is reasonable for the quality you receive. The BYOB option is definitely a bonus for groups looking to enjoy a drink with their meal without the typical restaurant markup.
Minor areas for improvement: The ambiance could use a slight upgrade to match the quality of the food, but honestly, when the flavors are this good, it's easy to overlook.
Would definitely recommend King Kharai for anyone seeking authentic Indian cuisine in Hounslow, especially if you're looking for that perfect dal...
