I live in the area and have been going to King Rooster every 2 weeks. The food there is good and has a hygiene rating of 5 which gives good impression to a first time customer however this leads to my first point which is about hygiene. One time, I bought 2 chicken burger and chips meals for me and my older brother. Everything was normal and we ate our meals happily but after a while me and my older brother had a nauseated feeling and felt very sick. I never thought about how the meal was made since I was young at the time but when I look back on it now. I've recognised that me and my brother had salmonella and that there had been cross contamination when the food was made. The likely reasoning was that the raw burger meat and salad used for the burger had touched. The employees then and now don't use disposable gloves when assembling the food which I find quite disgusting. This is makes me question the hygiene rating of the place since it was rated at the maximum, 5. I only found the answer later on. When food stores are going to be examine for hygiene and other things, they get a warning that they will be arriving and the exact date they will. This means they could possibly clean the place throughly before the examiners arrive. This leads onto my second point which is about the stores interior and exterior. The shop is located in front of main road right next to a corner shop called Arin Wines which has recently been renovated. King Roosters has an appealing sign and the outside looks fine. The inside is quite spacious as they have removed SEATING. The menus are presented to you above the counter so you can choose to order before talking to the server. You can also see the assembly line and where the food is cooked behind the counter. The back where food is cooked looks very outdated if you looked passed the machinery. They have also added a slushy machine. For cleaning I've only ever seen them mop the floor lightly and wipe the surface with one cloth. Once I saw the old slushy machine which was used for 2 years, the tubes of the machine where the slushy flowed through had grime and dirt. As I said before there are no chairs. The staff don't seem to be very welcoming and just take your order. For conclusion, you can go to King Rooster however I don't...

I went in to order some food as I have not eaten all day the man at the desk was very rude even when serving me. He ignored me for 5 minutes before finally taking my order, then continued to ignore me when I was asking for some sauce and salt. It wasn’t until I asked a 3rd time he then told me it was in the bag. When I asked for another pot of sauce, because the one they gave me was comically tiny he asked for 30p extra even though I already told him I’m not carrying cash only card. I asked him if he would take the 30p in card and he was telling me I should buy something else and then he can charge me the 30p on top. All in all I wasn’t expecting amazing service as it is a chicken store but this was ridiculously poor. Never...

Whenever it was lunch time, me and my friends would occasionally go here to get chicken burger and chips, the chicken burger here is very good. Even though the tables and chairs are gone, you can still enjoy your meal at home.
Definitely recommend getting the chicken burger at least once when you visit...
