Lupa isn’t just an app—it’s a bridge. Designed for intermediate and advanced Spanish learners, it pairs real-life stories from NPR’s Radio Ambulante with a suite of smart tools that help you listen, understand, and connect. It’s not about textbook Spanish—it’s about voices, dialects, and the rhythm of lived experience.
The stories are the heart of it: rich, diverse, and often emotionally resonant. You’re not just practicing comprehension—you’re stepping into Latin American communities, hearing about migration, love, politics, and everyday resilience. It’s immersive in the best sense.
Features like adjustable playback speed, real-time translations, and clickable transcripts make the experience fluid and intuitive. You can slow things down, highlight unfamiliar phrases, and revisit tricky sections without losing the narrative thread.
That said, Lupa isn’t for beginners. There’s little grammar support, no speaking practice, and the vocabulary review is quite basic. It’s best suited for learners who already have a foundation and want to sharpen their ear.
What makes Lupa special is its respect for the learner and the language. It doesn’t dilute or oversimplify—it invites you to rise to the challenge. If you’re ready to move beyond classroom Spanish and into the real world, Lupa is a...
Read moreOur first visit to Lupo's for a weekend lunch was a mixed bag. The atmosphere was lovely and the table spacing was good. It's also a huge plus that it is dog-friendly for small dogs!
The food was genuinely good. The carbonara was wonderfully creamy, and the pork dish is an absolute must-try. Service, however, was inconsistent. One server was incredibly attentive, constantly refilling our water (which is £1 per person for unlimited filtered water). Unfortunately, the other staff member (our main server) who served our food didn't replenish our water even once, despite it being empty.
The main issue was the billing error. We were given a bill for over £140 (for one starter and two mains), which was clearly incorrect. While it was eventually rectified to our actual £60 total (including service charge), there was no apology for the significant mistake, and we were even questioned about items we hadn't ordered. This oversight really left a sour taste and made me reconsider the 12.5% service charge, which I still paid.
We enjoyed aspects of our meal and the food was great. We're hoping this was an isolated incident, as we'd consider returning if these areas for improvement...
Read moreMe and my partner were really looking forward to trying this new restaurant just round the corner from our house and had to wait many weeks until our reservation came round. Sadly, I was very disappointed by our exprerience. To be fair the courgette flower was very nice. The cold meats, however, were pretty basic. I could have done better from the Holloway Waitrose. As for the mains, the carbonara tasted of little else other than salt and pepper and my porchetta was so over cooked that the crackling was leathery and impossible to cut with a knife. It was also tasteless. The accompanying roast potatoes were bland and basic. On the plus side the tiramisu got a thumbs up. We both found the atmosphere to be overbearing - there are too many people crammed into too small a place and it is impossible to have a conversation. The service was perfunctory. I was really quite shocked by how poor our dining experience was and we most definitely will not be returning. This place is over-priced...
