🇬🇧 The Best Afghan Restaurant in London

Plenty info to share. Karahi is not an afghan karahi. Its what you would find in your standard Indian. Full of masala. Afghan karahi is completely different. This was more a jalfrezi. Big disappointment. Kabuli pilao was nice. But portion is for 1. For £15 that's unreasonable. Plain giant Naan was good. Fries came. No salt. Plain. No sauces no salad provided throughout meal. Bizarre for an afghan restaurant. Lamb shank in kabuli pilao had no flavour. Meat in this fake karahi was chewy. Not raw but definitely undercooked. Overall, this place is 100% more Indian cuisine than Afghan. But lack of flavour in food ruined it completely. Plus 1 poor waitress looking after all 10 tables. Lovely girl but not enough. More spent on decor than on quality of food. Needs a complete restart. Plus prices are mental. 0.5kg fake karahi supposedly for 2-3 people for £45? Who puts bell peppers in an afghan lamb karahi? Really confusing. The kind of place u would go after a beer when 75% smashed. Checked in the kitchen, chef isnt afghan. Pakistani/Indian. Explains the karahi being more of a jalfrezi. Would not return. Alternative recommendations for viewers are Karwan and Mantu in or around Greater London. They are authentic afghan cuisine. Try them then you will appreciate my feedback. The second pic is of the way to the toilets. Madness for a restaurant to label itself as best afghan restaurant. Thanks

Exactly the calibre of restaurant you hope will open in your local area. Mihan delivers the family run touch, providing a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy the flavours of Afghanistan. Immediately welcomed and looked after throughout, we couldn’t have been more impressed. As we looked through the menu, naan and hummus were provided with our Doogh (yoghurt-based drink with mint and cucumber). Our decision on a first visit; sample various choices, so ordered the sharing platter for two. The tikka and Koobideh (lamb & chicken) are incredibly tender and stunningly flavoured. As are the lamb chops; succulent with fantastic seasoning, and charring adding further depth. The variation of rice (Kabuli, white w/ saffron & mixed vegetable) offered individuality to compliment the meats whilst adding colour to the platter. Must mention the naan! Presented to our table on a bread hanger which added to the relaxed and enjoyable experience. Portions are generous, you absolutely get your monies worth. Excited to see how the restaurant grows in popularity. Totally looking forward to trying the dumplings next time, which will likely be quite soon! Thanks Mihan.

I am appalled by your dismissive and condescending response to my genuine concerns. Your assertion that your prices are justified by the quality of ingredients and authentic preparation is nothing more than a weak excuse for blatant overpricing. Thousands of other restaurants in London manage to offer high-quality food without such exorbitant charges, making your claims laughable.

Your surprise at my reaction to the service charge only highlights your detachment from customer sentiment. Labeling the charge as "discretionary" in fine print on the menu does not absolve you from the fact that it is excessive and unjustified, especially given the mediocre service we received.

Your defense of the £14 Doogh price is equally absurd. The notion that this drink is priced for sharing among multiple people is a pathetic attempt to rationalize highway robbery. Other establishments manage to serve this traditional drink at a fraction of the cost without compromising on quality.

Your smug remark about portion sizes is downright insulting. Generous servings resulting in leftovers? The fact that someone from our group took food home does not mean the portions were adequate—it simply reflects our desire to salvage some value from an overpriced and disappointing meal.

Your fixation on price visibility misses the point entirely. Clear display of prices does not equate to fair pricing. Your menu is a trap for the unsuspecting customer, mixing a few affordable items with outrageously priced ones under the guise of being "designed for sharing."

As for your claim of being the sole Afghan restaurant in North London, it does not grant you a license to exploit customers. Unique dishes do not justify unjust prices, and your attempt to use this as a shield against criticism is disingenuous at best.

If your idea of an "authentic dining experience" involves ripping off customers and then mocking their concerns, then you have succeeded. Rest assured, I will be taking my business elsewhere and advising others to...

This is a response to your silly reply to our review below please note that when we came one table was waiting to be served and you had only one waitress (hope she gets a raise) running the entire restaurant even when everyone already got served we still waited so your not making sense lol. my review was based on my first impression — as a paying customer, I have every right to leave honest feedback. i said your food is nice but your service was poor and slow That alone is enough reason for a critical review.

Your response was defensive and unprofessional. Instead of taking feedback on board like any decent business would you chose to respond with personal attacks and a patronising tone calling me a “so-called Muslim” , shameful.

Lets talk facts you allow alcohol in your restaurant. That alone discredits any moral high ground you think you have. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) clearly said:

“Allah has cursed alcohol: the one who drinks it, the one who serves it, the one who sells it, the one who buys it, the one who squeezes it, the one for whom it is squeezed, the one who carries it, and the one to whom it is carried.” — Abu Dawood, Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah

So don’t throw religion at people when your own business openly goes against it. You should be more concerned about that than attacking Muslims for not tolerating bad service.

Also, proudly praising your non-Muslim customers over your Muslim ones says a lot about where your priorities lie — and it’s not with Islam or integrity. You don’t get to insult someone’s deen to defend your poor customer service.

Maybe take this as a reality check: learn to accept criticism like a professional, fix your attitude, You embarrassed yourself, not me.

Kind...

If you're craving bold flavors and grilled perfection, Myhan is a must-visit. From the moment you walk in, the warm aroma of sizzling meats and spices sets the tone for what’s to come. The atmosphere strikes a nice balance between cozy and contemporary—perfect for both relaxed dinners and special occasions.

We went all in and ordered the mixed grill, nanas, lamb chops, and chicken, and honestly, every bite delivered. The mixed grill platter is a carnivore’s dream—an impressive variety of meats, all grilled to perfection. Each piece had that unmistakable smoky flavor you can only get from a proper flame grill.

The lamb chops were the star of the show: beautifully seared on the outside, tender on the inside, and seasoned with just the right mix of herbs and spice. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, not dry like you sometimes get with grilled poultry—plus, it had a slightly charred edge that gave it extra depth.

Don’t sleep on the nanas either. These warm, soft flatbreads were ideal for scooping up all the delicious juices and sauces—like the perfect supporting act to the main dishes.

What really stood out was the attention to detail—from presentation to portion size, it’s clear that Myhan takes pride in what they serve. The staff were welcoming, checked in at the right moments, and made sure everything came out hot and fresh.

Prices were reasonable for the quality and quantity, making it great value for a hearty, flavorful meal. Whether you're out with friends, treating the family, or just in the mood for seriously good grilled food, Myhan should be on your list.

Verdict: 🔥 Flavorful meats, warm hospitality, and satisfying portions....
