I would give a 0 stars if Google allowed me. Had the worst customer experience recently. I had read good reviews about Mahi on Google and decided to give it a try with my family and friends. We went for dinner and the restaurant was not too crowded. We got seated promptly and the first thing we noticed was that there was no water on the table but we managed to find it on the menu. Anyway we placed our order and waited. Food started coming in around 12 minutes and we were disappointed after having the very first bite. It was mediocre at best. No taste and was bland. We had ordered multiple portions some of which were yet to come but we decided it was not worth the price and tried to cancel. The request was declined even when the portion was not yet served. We thought we would pack it if it was served or otherwise get it removed from the bill if not served before we finished. There was no water on the table and one of my friend had a soda can. She took it out to have a sip and the owner came running to tell us it was not allowed. The same owner who paid no attention to unserved portion of food was somehow still paying attention to our table. We finished our meals and it was time to pay the bill. No surprise the unserved portion was still on the bill. We reminded them of the unserved portion and explained everything but the owner was adamant that it was served to us already and that was the reason he didn't let us cancel. We had a long day and didn't want to argue so paid for everything and left only to never visit again. Not recommended to anyone. Its not just the food that's not upto the mark but the unethical practices that they employ by scamming customers. If you still want to take a chance, drink water beforehand 😂 and count your portions as you get them...
Read moreThis restaurant isn’t just about great food, it’s about the people behind it. I turned up late to my uncle’s birthday dinner after coming from Oxford, just as everyone was having dessert and cake 😂. Instead of feeling like I missed out, the owner personally invited me to his table, introduced me to his son, father, and uncle, and even shared his own food with me. He wasn’t just hospitable he was warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. I really enjoyed the experience and the food. He truly had no agenda but didn’t want to see me go hungry.
I ended up having some great conversations about their lives and childhood, all while enjoying some seriously good food. My friend, who arrived with me, also got the same treatment. He’s passionate about cooking meat but comes from a vegetarian household, and the owner went as far as inviting him into the kitchen to cook. That level of generosity and openness is rare.
The restaurant itself looked incredible, and the drinks selection especially the whiskey was next level. This place is more than just a spot for great food; it’s an experience, run by people who truly love what they do. I’d come back in...
Read moreFormally Black Soda, Mahi Restaurant has managed a very smooth transition in the take over process. The service was Very Personal and not corporate - the restaurant has the air a family run business which is a definitely plus since there is more attention to Service and tonolease the client.
The food was overall excellent with a good variety of flavour and not just the same base spice but on different meat. The Gira chicken ( on the bone ) and Chili prawns were exceptional. ... the only disappointment was the corn which lacked any flavour or kick.
The mush-kaki that we ordered was not prepared as ordered ( though perfectly tasty ) and so the owner quickly ordered another replacement fresh dish which was superb and as expected. There was no fuss or bother or apportionment Of blame it defensive attitude.
I highly recommend...
