I fully expected to leave five stars for this place as the previous reviews are glowing. I love Singaporean and Malaysian food and have been dying to have authentic beef rendang for ages without me slaving over a stove for the full day but unfortunately this place did not hit the spot.

Firstly both drink orders came out wrong. I ordered mint and lime juice and it was just lime juice. They took it back and dropped a few mint leaves in the drink but if you don’t crush the leaves you won’t get any mint flavour so it had to be taken back again. The drink was mostly ice so maximum four sips. For £3 this just isn’t good enough. The teh tarik halia I ordered came without ginger. They insisted I ordered teh tarik so refused to change it AND charged me for it despite drinking less than a third of it!

Onto the beef rendang. It was decent in that it was edible and had some good flavour and if I didn’t know what beef rendang was supposed to taste like perhaps I would have been happy with it but where was the galangal? Toasted coconut flakes? Melt in your mouth tender beef? All absent. I have had rendang all over Singapore and Malaysia and never had one with meat this tough? It is supposed to be so tender that you find shreds of it in the dry sauce. I was so disappointed.

Onto the roti chanai and chicken curry. Curry was nice and flavourful and the roti was ok but not fresh. The prawn crackers were good and had a kick to them that my daughter really enjoyed. The staff were pleasant and friendly but in business the customer is always right. The staff got the order wrong twice and blamed me, the customer. All it all it wasn’t the worst but there are so many other places to explore for me to ever...

I ordered several dishes for takeaway: Nasi Lemak, Mee Goreng, and Sambal Tempeh. Everything is good and the portion is big.

The nasi lemak came with a beef rendang and it is beyond great. The rice is savory and cooked perfectly plus the rendang is tender, tasty, and everything else you would like your rendang taste like. To note: there are several different version of rendang and this is one of the best.

The mee goreng exceeds my expectation as it filled with tons of things; chicken, prawn, tofu, etc. You rarely get that far even in Malaysia/Indonesia, not even with your mom cooking. Unless its your birthday, probably. Sad that it doesn't come with some kerupuk/crackers but don't sweat it they gave you so much already plus I have some at home.

The sambal tempeh is OK, I was looking for aubergine with sambal (it's amazing) but I don't mind switching to tempe bcs it is equally awesome.

All in all, trust me, this place is great. Think of a humble canteen somewhere in KL/Putrajaya/Penang or probably in Batam/Pekanbaru but add more ooomph to that. Yes, Malaysian Deli is that good. Go help yourself and buy some.

I will try nasi kerabu and...

Every week we order 1 takeaway. And I have never had such a bad experience. We called to order at approx 625pm and were told food would arrive after 1hr. That's fine. We called back at 8pm and were told the food has been prepared and it would arrive in 15-20min. We were empathetic to a busy Friday and waited patiently. At 830pm, we called back and were told the driver was on his way. By car, Google maps says its a 6min drive. We willingly paid for their £3.50 delivery service (on top of a mandatory min. of £25). We paid for delivery because of the lockdown measures and we do not drive. It is now 906pm (and they close at 9pm) and food has STILL not arrived and we wonder in what condition it will arrive if it was prepared over 1. 5 hrs. We were willing to pay over £30 thinking it would be a treat. It is your responsibility as a business to fulfill the services paid for. It is unfortunate for us to write this review as we were really looking forward to it. We are now waiting almost 3hrs for our food. Put yourself in our shoes as a customer, I trust you would understand our frustrations if a restaurant provided you with...
