Ordered a Napoli panini for lunch, had a feeling it would be good, but wasn’t quite prepared for how good. Forget the basic panini you might find in an average coffee shop, this food was stunning. The Mozzarella, Italian sausage was addictive, even the greens were just beautiful. Waitress also recommended this non-alcoholic fizzy drink called Spurs Nera which was intriguing and delicious: a myrtle-leaf orange drink. So good. We have had their home made cantucci biscuits to take out before, a soft biscuit, utterly ridiculous flavour, almost like eating wedding cake in biscuit form and amazing with a sweet wine. Love this place and after today’s lunch I’m coming back soon. Thanks! x

I can not recommend this deli/restaurant highly enough. We had passed it lots of times when walking along to Hammersmith, but the queues were always too long to stop. So, when we passed on a coldish summer’s day and there were no queues, we decided that the picnic we had packed could be saved for later, and we sat down to eat. We sat outdoors at the front (COVID-safe). The food was fantastic, and the proprietor was as chatty and friendly as you would expect from a hospitable Italian chef. A lovely experience and we’d especially recommend the parmigiano, and the watermelon drink.

Very, very small portions- we ordered a £28 cheese, salumi and vegs board for 2 (as specified on the menu) and it was minuscule, no vegs just a handful of limp rucola. Pasta was good but again small portion. I know portions are much smaller in Italy but if you want to charge London prices, then adjust the portions.

The staff seemed completely lost and it took 2,5h to get our starter and main. We were very relaxed but that’s really long. They were nice people and doing their best but clearly in need of a manager so shouldn’t be blamed please.

While we were having dinner, two tables complained to the chef, about the freshness of the food, or the quality and quantity of their starter, both politely. One table was rebuffed and the other table saw their starter or main’s waived from the bill. We were also shocked that when one of them asked for parmesan the staff informed them that they would be charged £2,5 for it. They left pretty soon after and it was obvious their evening had been ruined.

Our bill was incorrect and I am not sure the fine wine I was charged for is the wine I had ordered and only clicked when seeing its price. We were not charged for parmesan.

I also thought that was cheeky to ask for an un refundable deposit at booking given the overall experience.

It’s really a shame because the deli is located in a really beautiful little street, no car, beautiful settings and it could be a fantastic place. I know that hospitality is tough but at the same time it would be nice if you felt appreciated for your custom. The place was shambolic and we felt slightly taken advantage of.

FOLLOW UP: The owner of the Deli emailed me several times using the personal email I had used for booking, until I asked them to stop.

I stand firmly by my review.

I have nothing to gain by...

Took me time before writing down this review Hoped it was just a bad day for them ,but unfortunately it wasn’t! My house is few blocks away from this shop, In the past years I been at Mari many times as I’m local. Been in the shop a lot of time specially for take away ,aperitif in the summer and lunch twice Not happy but I always give another chance due to the review and for how talked about is this place. All time I am taking croissants for home they look like from the day before and so chewy and the selling price ??3 or 3.50 always different ?? Few time bought dessert like cassata(all cut in different shape and size cannoli (always packed like just put them in a box with no caring about) Neapolitan babba suppose to be with rum? The staff who work there looked like they are doing a favour to you !!! Before look at you I’ll take at list 5/10 min Everything so overpriced and the quality is not the top as I heard about. Panino so small and quiet empty. Pizza slice served so cold .2.50 or 3pound ? Wine liste of just classic Italian wine with no research. All the word know Antinori as a good producer! With a good research you can have more Campania wine as you from Naples! Importing Mozzarella make sure is not gone bad before sell it for 30 pound(this was quiet long time ago) I am working in the same industry I will suggest to train a bit the staff on welcome guest and packing take away Be more humble and follow the meaning of hospitality. We from Campania usually are doing much more than this! Overall overpriced and not happy about...

I don't understand the positive reviews, maybe they were having a bad day today (Sun 8 May) but my entire experience was awful. Despite there being so many staff, none of them were located outside in the take away area, with the only female there who normally deals with outside, firmly seated inside at a laptop. Lots of people walking up to the outdoor counter but not a single person outside to sell anything, so they lost a lot of customers today. I was standing around the food outside sitting on trays hoping for someone to tell me what they were but nope, not a sole. After longer than 10mins, a guy came out but he didn't speak English, so he went back inside & again, nobody!! I think they are disorganised & don't care much for their customers. When I finally ordered a plate of bits & pieces of food, the actual food was terrible - a complete insult to Italy, having been there many times myself. Apart from the food being just barely warmed on the outside & cold inside, the actual fillings of the little pieces were terrible, I expected better. Coffee was ok, but there are much better Italian places in Chiswick where the coffee, foccacia & salumi is AMAZING, compared to the...
