Overall: MEATliquor Northcote Road delivers on its promise of delicious, satisfying "dirty" food. The service is friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere is perfect for a casual lunch with friends. Experience: Having previously enjoyed MEATliquor on Oxford Street, I knew what to expect - and Northcote Road didn't disappoint. While it was surprisingly quiet for a Saturday lunch, the friendly staff quickly found us a seat for our group of seven. Food: The real stars of the show were the wings. My friends, who were MEATliquor newbies, declared them the best wings they'd ever had. The burgers, as always, were fantastic - juicy patties in perfectly smashed buns, not greasy or overwhelming. A personal highlight was trying the AMC & chorizo for the first time. These were absolutely delicious - a fun and flavorful addition to the menu, and something I'll definitely order again. Drinks: My girlfriend swears by the Fans Only cocktail, and the Northcote Road version lived up to its reputation, even surpassing the Oxford Street iteration. It was slightly more syrupy, making for a very enjoyable drink. Price: At £35 per person for a burger, side, and drinks, the price point is fair for the quality and quantity of food. Recommendation: If you're looking for delicious, casual fare with a fun atmosphere, MEATliquor Northcote Road is a great choice. The wings are an absolute must-try, and the burgers are a guaranteed crowd-pleaser. Just be aware that the portions are generous, so you might not need a side dish unless you're famished!

I ordered a bacon burger, onion rings, maltshake and brownie. Let’s start with the maltshake which was delicioso. A good quantity not too sweet and well packaged, it was thick but able to drink through the straw. The brownie was bite size and tasty. The burger on the other hand was mega dry. I took two bites and threw the rest away. It was chewy and I’m sure I gained muscles in my cheeks and my tongue for the effort I had to use to eat it. The quality of the burger was awful. With the onion rings they were massive but burnt. They were made with a thick batter and showed me that chewing them would turn me into the loser because they were inedible and stabbed up my gums. They won that fight hands down. There’s no way I’m going back to northcote road meat liquor. Disappointed and disdainful. I can’t see a reprieve tbh. Don’t waste your money.

Haven't been to Meat Liquor since they first opened back in Mayfair many many years ago at the peak of the burger boom in London, and it's nice to see they are still serving up delicious burgers today. Green chilli burger was well cooked, juicy and flavourful. Chilli dog had a nice smokey flavour, loaded with chilli, but the burger is definitely better. Monkey fingered mini chicken fillets in buffalo sauce was tasty but it arrived to our table just warm which suggests they were sitting on the counter for a while. Hard shakes were a win and so were the fries. Nice to see its now a slightly more family friendly restaurant. Only downside is the service was a bit slow, busy night with only 2 service staff. Will definitely give it a go again.

Walked in on a Friday afternoon and staff looked at my sister and I as if we weren't supposed to be there. Staff were sat slumped, couldn't be bothered to move, when we asked if we could have a table they said, "sure sit wherever". At 4pm on a Friday only one other table was occupied. The food was overpriced for what it was. It took a long time for us to order as the staff were too busy chatting at one of the back tables. However, once we ordered the food, it came surprisingly quickly - within minutes - which was worrying. Once I bit into my chicken burger, it burned my lip and my face. We felt very uncomfortable and were ready to leave, but we couldn't get anyone's attention as they were too busy chatting. It took 10 minutes to get a member of staff's attention for the bill. My sister and I felt so uncomfortable as we felt as if we weren't supposed to be there as customers. I got a very weird vibe from the moment I walked in. A day later, I started to feel very ill, I had very bad flu like symptoms, however I tested negative for COVID. It turned out I had contracted what has now been diagnosed as norovirus and have just been to the hospital for rehydration. I am very disappointed in the service and restaurant as a whole and will not be returning or recommending.

-- UPDATE -- Dear Team Meat, Thank you for your response to my comment and acknowledging the above. Unfortunately, my gastric flu did not present for 24 hours after eating and I have not been able to eat properly since - except for crackers and soup and rehydration. I have not been able to attend uni or work since and bed and toilet bound. I'm not feeling any better than what I did previously - I am losing weight and feeling very weak. Going forward, I hope that food hygiene and prep will be carefully looked at so no one else has to experience what I am currently going...

Food Poisoning!!!

I went to visited this restaurant a couple of weeks ago for a quick and simple meal. I had been to their restaurant in Brighton before where the food was nice, so I gave it another go.

I purchased the chicken burger from the Clapham establishment, and within 12 hours I was being violently ill. I had eaten absolutely nothing out of the ordinary in the past few days, so I knew the illness was certainly from the burger I had eaten at MeatLiquor.

I have spoken to the management and their supplier who investigated the matter. All they could tell me was that their process is always followed and they couldn't see any wrongdoing in relation to how their venue was run that day. My justified response was that cooking chicken properly is nothing to do with the supply process, but how it is prepared there and then, which they naturally could not confirm had been witnessed.

I didn't want to leave a poor review as I simply wanted the restaurant to be aware and for me to receive a refund for my meal, however they have refused. I had to two a day off work (which cost me a lot more than the £70.00 meal) so I'm very disappointed with their response. Everybody makes mistakes, but they haven't been very willing to try to make up for their actions.

An added note.. I have mentioned my experience to a lot of the people I know around the area, and almost all of them told me about an experience they have had them themselves, or heard about poor food from this chain.

You'd think a restaurant would rather refund the £70.00 I spent on my evening than have a bad name, but...
