This is Laura's husband now.
I also think you should also apologize to me and accept responsibility that you're service was terrible from the beginning and that your staff member whom I remonstrated with had an absolutely disgusting attitude, so Mr. Owner that responsibility falls squarely on your shoulders for not training your staff to deal with awkward situations. Now and then I can accept that service isn't always going to be up to stratch in every restaurant you attend, sometimes it's very busy or other factors come into play - and if as a paying customer I don't feel me or my wife have had a good service then I have the right not to pay service charges or tips and the reason I refused to pay your service charge was because your service was poor and wrong on many levels, and it wasn’t just about the hot plates. We waited 10-15 mins for a waiter to come to our table when we decided what we were going to have, my wife had to shout for someone to come over because your waiters were talking to each other for a long period when it wasn't even busy at the time me and my wife arrived, that was point 1, point 2 my wife asked for 2 popperdoms and instead of getting 2 about 6-8 arrived on our table when their was just 2 of us, a mistake fair enough but it doesn’t stop there, you know about the hot plates and this would not of been an issue if the lamb dopiaza was put where my wife was sitting after she said the lamb dish was hers but yet your waiter still put it in on my section opposite so that is why this become an issue because she slightly burned her hand trying to pick this up. I have to come to the conclusion that some of your waiters may not have a good command of English because she clearly said the Lamb dish belongs to her but it still went over to me. And the last point and where this for me got out of hand, after we had finished the meal, instead of being given the opportunity to look at deserts, without us having a chance to breath and ask for the bill in our own time, one of the waiters issued out the bill, ok at that point its not such an issue, we both lay out our debit cards, then 5 mins later one of the waiters come out and took our cards without asking us how much we are both paying on each card and he was gone for another 5 minutes and then returned our cards without saying anything at all, and its at that point where I decided enough is enough and when the waiter whom I had the big fall out with came out and I told him straight I'm not paying for the service charge as I explained that the service was far below acceptable standards he asked why and I explained the point about the lamb dish hot plate not going to my wife after she clearly stated that its her dish, after a while when it sunk in what I was saying, he then decides to argue with me about it and then waves his hands to the table on the right hand and mocks us for saying aahhh the plate is too hot - I told this person do not mock us, we are simply trying to explain your service was crap and that was one example and then after then he wouldn’t let me or my wife speak, he continues to mock us to other customers and would not listen to what was trying to explain to him so that is what I lost it and swore at him that so called staff member of yours who has no manners and is by far the rudest waiter I have ever had the misfortune to deal with in terms of attitude, I reminded him that the customer is right when they express concerns about either the service or the standards of food I already said that the food was good but the level of service was shocking and whether it was his limited command of English but he was the one getting very aggressive with me which is where you Mr. Owner had to step in. I will not accpet that I was the instigator of this, you should accpet 100% responisbility that your waiter was the one out of order and I would never of reacted like that if he had the correct attitude to dealing with this situation in...
Read moreI would say that Akash is just below average in terms of food, service, ambience, etc. hence the 2* review. A warning to anyone who does go, however: do not make the mistake of ordering any vegetarian side dishes as mains - they simply double the price (while serving a slightly increased portion). My wife had a Tarka Daal which cost £10 (!) while I had a Saag Paneer which cost £11! This was more than some of our friends’ meat dishes! To give readers some perspective, a Chicken Tikka Masala is £10 while a Chicken Korma is £9. I did question this when we received our bill but was fobbed off with talk of cheese costs, a pretty poor excuse considering my dish only had about 5 small pieces of paneer in anyway. I don’t know how he’d have explained away the £10 charge for my wife’s lentil-based dish. Very naughty of Akash but perhaps it was also our own fault for not asking what the price would be when the waiter suggested we make our side dishes mains. We would obviously have been better off ordering 4 vegetarian side dishes for the same price (!) so please any future...
Read moreI ordered food from Akash Restaurant take away first time. We regularly go to eat at the place. When we tried to order the food, the person could hear at all. He was on the phone for long time. He could not write the address correctly. I had asked to speak to manager and all sorts of excuses are given he is not here, but now. When the food arrived was 4 sent 4 pieces of prawns, few bit of chicken, 3 completely charred nan breads, ( which we did not eat at all). 2 large portions of biriyani as the man just wanted to take the order and could not understand portion sizes, burnt sauce to go with. Salad only 1 small portion. Food was badly packed and there was oil all over the place dripping from food. Food was ordered for 3people and charged us £75.50 for what?. Food was disgusting and had to order pizza for my guests. I suggest not to order take away or try to eat at shady place. Shame on shady service provided. Does this justify the amount charged with all food going in the bin. I have never experienced such shady food delivery service....
